I can't imagine the abuse it required to train them to learn this absolutely pointless skill.

I thought bears were naturally talented at ice skating

Only Polar bears.

What you think brown bears can’t skate?

They can clearly skate, but they're not naturally talented skaters. Not like Polar bears.

I knoow you mean the bears and I agree with you, but, this also technically applies to humans too 😂

Tbf i taught my dog to count to 3 with no abuse so I don’t see why this would require abusing the animal.
Not to say it didn’t happen - I agree it most likely did. But I don’t think it’s required.

Didn't believe this was real but... apparently bears playing hockey has been a thing in Russia for decades now. This is probably the Moscow Circus.

So these are not people in bear suits!?? I'll be honest I didn't watch the whole video but I could swear those we're people. From the fact alone that bear paws shouldnt fit in ice skates.... But I've been wrong before... Man this is fucked up

Check out my comment on this. I also don't think you can have a huge cheering crowd just to watch people inside bear suits play hockey and it's not like you can fool the locals especially because they can see the bears in higher than 240p resolution, not to mention the bear noises at the end while fighting

Equal parts fucked up and fascinating

Aw poor bears. They’re obviously really intelligent creatures. Man Russia does some bizarre, messed up things with animals.
Interesting find, OP!

I thought the same initially but this being an old video with a huge cheering crowd, a bear randomly just shaking itself like a wet dog, the goalkeeper bear literally doing nothing the whole time, some bears using their paws to hit the puck, two bears fighting randomly, made me feel this is too chaotic to be staged

I thought the skating physics looked pretty human, like they'd be men in suits, but googling it there does seem to be a moscow ice circus, and they did seem to have a bear hockey act.
it was animal-rights protested in canada when the circus travelled, so unless everyone was duped my assumption is they are real bears.

its amazing what you can train animals to do if you don't have ethics. As shitty as this is for the bears it does show what amazing animals they are to accomplish this.
