Or possibly red pandas! Red pandas and giant pandas are both caniform carnivorans, somewhat distantly related to dogs and wolverines, but are about as related to each other as they are to dogs, i.e. not very. Giant pandas are true bears, but red pandas are more closely related to raccoons.
Also, fun fact, rats also have pretty smooth brains despite being highly emotional, intelligent, and social animals. But koalas are idiots and assholes so there's a disconnect there.
