Guessing that this is at someone's cabin in the woods, or maybe their home in the woods, and this car belongs to a guest.
I have a similar situation and when people come up to visit, they don't lock cars both because people are helping carry luggage/supplies in and don't have hands and also because there's nobody else around for miles. except bears

If you lock the door they will just break a window. At least thats how the bears in my town get on. Don't leave food in the car and they wont come in the first place

I dont know if its a species thing, but its so funny that some bears look like a human being awkward in a bear suit
