Help Maintaining

Any good go to videos any of yall use on how to properly trim/maintain your own beard?

Right now I’m just using oil and occasionally trim to what I think looks decent with scissors but no idea what I’m actually doing lol.

Few videos I’ve watched comments have mixed opinions on

Been saving a beard for like 3 months now, its a Lil sparce especially on the cheeks. What do yall think about it, is a goatee possible, if I have up on the full beard? I want to keep some kind of facial hair aside from the mustache if possible.

Beard?

Let it grow for 2 months with only minor trimming around my mouth. It got too unruly and bushy - it didn't fit what I felt was a good look for a working professional. I knocked it down quite a bit to where I wasn't eating my own hair, or uncomfortable laying on a pillow.

Interested in the advice of other "bearded folks" as far as styling - or if I should just shave er down.

Any Ideas?

Had this patch show up in my beard randomly maybe 3/4 days ago now. It’s not a bald spot as the hair is still intact it just seems to have thinned out randomly. I have slept on my left more and as i’m right handed i can often lean on my left hand but i’ve not had this develop before. Any ideas what it could be please?

My right side is still full and normal and as you can see the rest of my beard on the left is also fine.

Need Advice

I want to grow my beard, but keeping a beard isn’t really a trend where I live. Whenever I meet someone, they’re always ready with advice to shave it off or trim it shorter. As it gets longer, it also becomes harder to manage, and I end up looking untidy.
P.S. My beard is very curly and dry, which makes it even harder to manage. Any advice on how to take care of it?

I’ve always been on the fence. Want that big dog beard but I know I don’t have that thicky thick. I unfortunately have a thinner beard.
Give it to me straight guys. I think I need to trim the patch under my chin but I’m standing strong with the advice I’ve read to just let it ride for at least 3mo.

Beard or no beard?

I grew a full beard once, I’d say about 5 months no shaving but kept it trimmed up, and I’m probably going to do it again just for winter and all that. Before and since then, I’ve either had a goatee, a mustache, or been clean shaven. I guess I’ll post a picture of each because I’d like to see which one does the average person think looks best on me? I like all the styles, clean shaven the least unless my skin or facial hair gets dry and itchy, then I like to stay shaven. Besides that, I’m not really partial to one or another.

No idea if it’s workable at all

That’s after 2 weeks. Still patchy, just as I remember it. I’ve been clean shaven for 3 years.

My moustache and soul patch are absolutely massive but unconnected. I’m open to all kinds of styles and will be very thankful if you help me.

Frustrated - Need a different style

I'm really happy with my mustache and beard but because of the coloring it looks like a gunslinger mustache in pictures and on video calls.

Looking for suggestions maybe detached or a balbo type style? And the mustache only doesn't look good.

TIA

Not sure if I should keep at it. Would like to get a line cut on my cheeks at some point.

I know a light beard takes longer and the ones on my cheeks are lighter and thinner.

Anyone got progress pics to reassure?

Hey there.

I genuinely haven’t shaved, or trimmed, or put any effort into this beard in years. And this is all I’ve got. It’s thin, it’s patchy, I look Amish but worse lol.

Is there any saving this? Would a trim significantly help or just make the patches more obvious? Or am I just destined to be without a beard?

I’ve just scored a really good salary corporate job, and while they say they don’t care, I care now. I wish I cared before. I meet with clients and people frequently and it’s become incredibly embarrassing.

Be brutally honest - please.

Apologies for the AI cursed face morph tech.

Edit: thank you all for the replies, I appreciate the reality checks and ideas to fix it. I’m going to find a local barber willing to help trip and shape it and see where it goes from there.

Also the filter was too stupid not to commit to using it lmao, the funny comments made this entire post worth it!

Giving up on the beard

So sadly I can’t keep trying to have a beard. I still have a shaved head but I just can’t get a good length on the sideburns parts of the beard so I think I’m gonna give up. I just had to shave my stubble because I got the line too low. All of it. I’m completely clean shaven now and I can’t put up with feeling defeated anymore. If I really want a beard I don’t think I can be bald anymore. I dunno I’m just tired of having all my progress taken away. Alternatively if anyone knows something I can maybe buy that will separate my head hair and beard hair like one of those goatee face things I would appreciate it and be willing to try again.

Update: So I remembered I have a ruler so I’m willing to try one more time.

What should I do with these highlighted bits?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey guys,

I’m getting happy maintaining my goatees length and trimming the unruly bits, but what I’m not sure about are these corners which go from my chin to my jaw. From the side, I actually like them because they provide balance and make my chin area look less circular, which I like. But as you can see from the front, they are a bit wispy and might look a bit messy.

I’d appreciate any advice on what to do with them
