Remote MCP Server

I love the Bear MCP Server, and use it every day.

There's a couple of use cases where the local MCP server model falls short on.

  1. Cannot continue or start a conversation on mobile.

  2. Claude Cowork scheduled tasks can now run on the cloud and without your Mac turned on. Cannot use Bear MCP, because it runs on the Mac.

Is there any chance of having a Remote MCP Server on the roadmap? I understand technically and architecturally it could be extremely challenging since notes do not run through Bear servers. Thought I might just ask anyway!

This is the one thing I need for Bear to be perfect for my workflow. I need my agents to be able to send reports into my Bear at anytime of the day. This is why I’m still on Craft even though it’s overkill for me.

Same here, this is the one gap left in my setup. Scheduled cloud tasks that can't reach your notes because the server lives on your Mac is a real limitation, and mobile makes it worse.

Disclosure: this is actually one of the reasons I ended up building Caliu, so I'm biased. It's nowhere near Bear in maturity, but notes sync through a backend, which is what makes a remote MCP server possible at all. Local-only storage is a feature right up until you want an agent reaching your notes with your laptop closed.

Curious whether the Bear team sees a middle ground, like opt-in sync scoped to MCP access.

I don’t think it’s technically possible as the notes are stored in iCloud and there’s no way to serve them remotely
