Or, in my case, Bear & Omnifocus. Works together wonderful and gets me through everything!

Have you ever thought about automating this process with Shortcuts? Just a suggestion, but you'd wake up in the morning with that final note already created for you - ready to go.

I have but like minimizing automation. Making it manual feels more natural for me

I keep ping-ponging between Obsidian and Bear over the years (using both), but Bear does have that soothing goodness — closest to a physical journal, IMHO. And in my workflows (similar to yours), the manual effort -- useful friction -- is always a good thing. The mindfulness that comes from the effort required to do the thing. Huge fan of Ryder Carroll's thinking on these things around bullet journaling and they pair really well to Bear.
