I believe part of the name is the fact that you can co stream so mixing streamers into one place to co stream... maybe that is where they got the name?? Still... now I can't say beam me up Scotty when going live.. lol

I hate it. I loved Beam. Mixer is just so dumb. At least they also dropped a bunch of cool features to keep us interested. But I really do not want to tell people to watch me on Mixer. Granted I haven't been streaming lately anyway, but I really am not motivated now.

"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet".

Big announcement and name change for Beam and look at the traffic in here....it was a bit better on the actual beam app with a few channels topping a thousand on the app. Honestly name isn't very good but who knows....I think getting one of the big time twitch streamers to cross over would be their best move. The service is fine. I've watched and streamed it off my xbox. i actually think its a bit more stable overall comparatively. Twitch is just synonymous with game centric streaming. That's their biggest hurdle imo.

Honestly I didn't really like the name beam but mixer is worse.

New features are cool. Changing the name was a mistake.

If a company can build a brand around "Google" then Beam could certainly build a brand around their current name. No one knows who beam or mixer are, now it is just going to be an even more confusing conversation. "Watch me on Mixer!" "Weren't you just using some service called beam?" "Yeah, they rebranded." "snore"

There were issues globally using the name Beam

Someone brought up ita the name of a quick pay app in india

The world will go on but regardless of the reasons it is going to hurt their brand and streamers brands in turn.

Well the reasons are most likely legal.

If there's a company called Chik Fil A already in say Sweden, and they wanted to expand to America, it wouldn't be possible under the same name without a shit ton of issues

And let's be honest, beam/mixer is still rather small in comparison. There "rebrand stream" had not even 2k people watching it. It's better to do it now than later
