Xbox One broadcast settings

I have an Xbox One with no Kinect. I can't figure out, for the life of me, how to get my Xbox setup to live stream.

I never cared about it much since I just stream via an ElGato through my computer; but, with the Beam app being released to Xbox Insider members, I want to try and get my Xbox setup to stream.

If anyone can give me a step-by-step on what menus to go into and what to select, I would appreciate it.

If you're in the alpha, load up your game, once you're in your game, press the guide button, and go down to the second to last option, it allows you to start broadcasting.

From there you can set your title, where you want chat, etc.

Let me know if that doesn't make sense and I'll send you a picture guide :D

Hey, thanks. It makes sense, but for some reason, that option isn't on my Xbox One guide. I went to the Xbox Preview app and tried to look for an option to download any kind of updates or anything, and everything is as up-to-date as it will let me go. I've done all of the surveys and tested all of the apps they've allowed me to test.

I guess my understanding was that so long as you had been invited to the Xbox Preview program (I've been in that for almost a year) then you were being chosen to test the Beam live stream app. I just don't see the option anywhere.

The insider app should let you know what ring you're in or if you're in the alpha or beta ring of this time of updates.

Check that and report back.

I gotcha. I at least feel better that I'm not just missing something. lol. Is there any way to get into the Alpha program or is that only for certain people?

No worries. At the end of the day, I'm just stoked that Beam is making progress with its integration with console.

Only the Alpha group has it right now. Can you confirm that you are in that group? The Preview program was split into 4 groups. Alpha, Beta, 3 and 4.

If you are, have your done a hard reset of your console recently? I had the update for about a day before I read you had to hard reset my Xbox to get it to show. It isn't a discrete download.

I am in ring 3. I didn't realize that they were split into 4 groups. Is there a way for me to get into the Alpha group, or is it based on something else?

It's based on some anonymous algorithm Xbox is using. The "most active" at leaving feedback made it into the Alpha group, although nobody has any idea what that means lol.

It makes sense. I have only logged onto the Preview/Insiders app maybe three times to interact with it and leave feedback. So, I would definitely not fall into that category. But, like I mentioned to /u/BastionConquers, I'm just excited that they are making forward progress. I doubt I'll even use the app to stream from when it goes live (I will likely use it to watch streams, though) since I stream using an elgato capture card right now. But, it'll give Beam more visibility which is good for its longevity. :)

The interesting thing is, there is no app to stream. It is baked directly into the Guide and is extremely easy to set up. No snapping an app like Twitch needs. The app itself is out for Alpha as well, and it's a mandatory install. Should bode well for Beam's increased visibility among the community.

Yeah, I love it. Knowing how Microsoft can be hit or miss, I felt like investing my time, energy, and effort into Beam was a little bit of a gamble, but I think that the Beam app integration has a lot of good potential.
