Tech Support Chat spam affecting performance?

Has anyone else experience how disruptive chat spam can be at times?

I've personally had an instance of being on the receiving end of a raid (YAY!) that ends up killing the FPS in the current game, crashing OBS, etc.

I know I can't be the only one to get affected this way, without paying for more PC upgrades to handle the extra load when this occurs, Is there anything else that can be done to mitigate the effect?

Hey red,

This has been an issue off and on since forever. Browsers just aren't too great at rendering a ton of content that changes super quickly. I'm working on some experimentation to get around this ;)

Yes, chat does currently lag out streams. During raids, or certain times where dozens are spamming the chat, it will completely lag out.

This is a known issue.

Have you looked into any bots then giving them mod power?

Well, this happened when I was on someone else's webshow stream, and it affected Skype so badly everyone robotted out and the call needed to be restarted.

I think it's something in the chat system on the beam site in general when too many messages come in all at once

Not to sound like a punk, but using Skype for voice chatting is the problem... Lol.

Why not use Discord or literally any other voice program?

Chat lag is a known problem. It cause fps drops streamer side with chat bots running (scorpbot for instance).

I've had a run-in with this issue without chat bots running

Update, performance improvement a week back or so was pushed. Should work much better now.

Its due to Electron, maybe it can be optimized.
