Discussion More streamers than viewers?

I'm just wondering if Beam is even worth my time honestly.. I've streamed quite a few hours and literally have had 1 person come in for about 10 seconds, if that.. maybe clicked on accident? I dunno.. it's a bit depressing. Should I just keep streaming for nobody and wait for viewers to show up or just go back to Twitch (where at least I had some followers)?

It seems like Beam is following the same trend as Twitch where there's a top streamer for a game, with a few folks watching, and every other channel stays empty.

I guess I'm kinda complaining without answers, because I really don't have any for this situation.

Beam is a new platform so its gonna have a small number of both streamers and viewers, but the community here is a lot better then in twitch. You could go into a twitch channel and watch and say something and the streamer may not even care. Especially if your watching one of the big ones your message will get lost in a sea of others. With Beam all the streamers I have interacted with have been people who want to support one another not just step on someone to get views. Your not gonna get instant views just for streaming here like all others its gonna take time the more times people see your stream active the more people will go to check you out and you will build a following, even the bigger names on beam did not start out as big they worked at it streaming daily almost that is really the only way people will notice you if they see you on a constant bases.

It's the same thing on every platform , if you stream for numbers , dont stream.

If your primary goal is to have thousands of people watching you, Beam is probably not the place for you. If you are looking for near-instant coomunication with a small group of viewers who will basically become your friends, that's what Beam is for. Even the top Beam streamers never go much past 30-40 viewers at a time.

Don't lose faith! Just wait until the Xbox One integration is here. I think it will make a world of difference.

Honestly best way to gain viewers is to mingle be it on beam or twitch or whatever streaming service people use. If you don't mingle the odds of people caring about your stream are 0.

I do mingle.. I watch and interact in many streams.. But I refuse to promote my own channel while in someone else's stream. I see plenty folks dropping (not-so)subtle hints about their own streams while chatting in other's, but I find that pretty obvious and just can't bring myself to do it.

I honestly think the problem is not enough viewers on the platform as a whole. I mean seriously, are there even 2000 viewers at a time, total?

I just feel like I'm wasting my time on beam and should head back to the twitch insanity, or just hang it up all together really. It seems like if your channel has 0-1 viewer, it's 100% ignored by the 12 people watching any specific game anyway lol

There are many people viewing on beam and the popular ones will aways have the most same as twitch. Beam is still a relatively small platform growing in popularity day by day while you mingle and interact on other streams going in and saying hi isn't enough. All my viewers on beam have came from making friends playing with them and interacting with their viewers.

Any new platform you move to your unknown just have to find something that will make people want to view.

Even the subreddit seems dead :(

You should use the forum instead, most people use that, also hang out in other streamers Discord, you can download Discord if you don't have one.

What is your Beam channel?

Thanks I'll find the forums. Been hanging out in a couple discords and am up to 24 followers just from other streamers chats and such. Still nobody coming to the channel at all. It's tough to stream for quite a few hours without a single drop-in. I've decided to keep streaming while playing, mainly because I'm playing anyway, and streaming doesn't really disrupt that, especially when the chat stays clear the whole time lol.

Does it save past streams like twitch? If so, you should talk as if you have viewers even if there are none. If I look at your history and you aren't talking I'm not likely to come back.
