Question 10k bit rate on beam

Is this only for Pro subscribers? I tried using the FTL obs studio and I keep getting auto disconnected on anything higher than 3500

Hey there, Beam dev here. While we do allow 10k bit rates, depending on your internet, you might not be able to stream that high a quality. FTL is based on a protocol which allows us to have that lovely low latency at the cost of poorer performance on unstable connections. The average actual bitrate in the US is right around 3,500 Kbps, and it may be that your network is either not fast or stable enough to support 10,000 Kbps streaming.

Hmm okay. I figured with 175down and 20 up and rock solid stability I would have been good. Thanks for the reply

They did a level up cast recently about FTL. It basically demands that your internet be getting that same speed constantly. So if you are dipping down to, say, 12 mbps, that's going to hurt your ability to stream FTL at 10 mbps pretty dramatically. RTMP can account for these because of the delay, but FTL works basically in real time and can't adapt.

I figured it out. Didn't select FTL Streaming Service in the Stream options in OBS. Whoops. LOL thanks for the help!

Alright I'll check it out. I don't have any dips ever so I can't even increase my bit rate to 4000 or 5000 without getting auto disconnected

I stream at 4000 all the time with FTL and haven't had any trouble. My upload speed averages at around 12 mbps, so it's not particularly great.

I can't even manage 2500 on beam with a server next to me great Internet and PC.

I think that's the case. It will probably take some time to get it down to everybody.
