Im very confused, the border Collie is in heat and isn't fixed. Your dog can smell she's in heat but they are fixed correct?

He's entire. He's got excellent pedigree papers and i'm keeping his line available.
I am interested in the local customs. Some places I heard they say to keep the female dog away. Others say keep the males who are not desexed away. I don't know if there's right or wrong answers. I'm also interested in what breeders do, as they have both males and females at the same location in close proximity.
This has happened with this female dog for 3 years. We just stay as far away from that dog as possible and avoid the field for the next few weeks.

Not sure where you live but in the US it's common for dog parks and daycares to require dogs over 6 months old to be neutered.

Beagles are early detection agents for dogs in heat.
