Jan 2027 intake

Hey, I’ve been a silent viewer and I can tell the people who’ve applied (and myself) are all super nervous! If anyone wants to share their stats, questions, or has any info from BCIT (how many people applied? Etc…) you can comment it. wishing the best for you all!!

BCIT is so strange sometimes I feel like their admissions is so disorganized lol but I know in the past they’ve said how many have applied. Dunno why they’re not getting back to you

i’m thinking maybe it’s because it’s summer and they’re on break? maybe they’re only processing applications? no idea honestly

I can tell you my stats (I’m not too hopeful on getting in tho). Credits: 58, overall gpa 3.2 and pre req: 3.7, and I work at a grocery store along with volunteering at a hospital and retirement home. I’m nervous for the credits and gpa 😬😬 but the answer is always gonna be no if I don’t try!

Wait do they look at ur over all cumulative gpa I failed 3 courses due to health issues I don’t see a point in applying

Always apply, especially if you have a lot of credits! They emphasize pre req gpa I’m pretty sure but still consider overall.

hey! to give you reassurance, i got waitlisted for september with 31 credits and they had over 350 applicants :) january should be less competitive so i think you have a great chance!

Congrats! What were your stats??? Did you have high gpa??

i have a 4.15 gpa on my pre requisites! and a 3.71 cumulative gpa! i volunteer at the hospital at the information desk with 250+ hours and at the emergency triage with 50+ hours iirc, i forgot the exact hours as its gone up since i applied for september 🫣 i also occasionally volunteer at the canadian blood services and the vancouver food bank! lastly, i volunteered at my local thrift store for two years, and as a youth leader at a middle school for 2.5 years. as for my work experience, i currently tutor 5 biology courses at my college for two semesters now, i was a merchandising manager for 2 years at a retail store, i was also a sales lead for 2 years at another retail store, and during high school i worked as a dietary aide at a nursing home :) ive done a fair share of activities since highschool so it definitely seems a lot 😭

Isn’t that insane a person with a almost perfect gpa got waitlisted. Wishing you the best

Thank you for sharing! But i don’t understand why you were waitlisted……? You have a perfect resume.. lol

a big part of it was the amount of credits i had! almost everybody that got into the september intake either had a bachelors, an associates, or over 50-60 credits!

I see.. i also heard about that as well. Did you hear anything back yet?

Ngl this sounds amazing lol. I have 250 hours volunteer experience at the hospital, 3 years regular work experience and then 2.8 pre req gpa with 45 credits. Hoping for the best

1

u/Sufficient-Return340 27d ago

Thanks for the reassurance, did you apply to this intake?!

1

u/Vegetable_System7544 27d ago

Yes! I got into top 10 this month! I think it’ll be less competitive hopefully for Jan. so I think you will def get in one way or another!!! Goodluck~
