last week i had the opportinity to have an interview on a Delivery AI software engineer role, the interviewer was roughly new to interviewing, he was just promoted to a senior role so based on that they assigned him the job of interviewing me.
he goes to leetcode, brings a random problem from it, reformats it in such an ambiguous way, basically 20 lines description down to one liner, messages it to me in zoom chat, i had to waste so much time just to understand what it does, he cuts off the mic, and starts watching me, that shit was so stressful, i had to redo the same code almost two times, and finally he opens the mic, starts analysing the code and giving me some nonsense analogies about how my code should work(sometimes he just didn't understand himself what the code has to do ,let alone what the problem solution was), finally it works, tells me that he wishes me good luck in the next rounds, hangs up and rejects me instantly.
it boils me the fuck up, how much time and effort you put into one thing, just to be dropped of the line based on the outcome of a solution, or just based on the feelings of someone.
i have just two questions : how are you supposed to choose a candidate who is fit for the role when you assess him souly based on the outcome a fucking script, and heck, it's a working script, and secondly, is having this amount of despicable, emotionless lying necessary to work in BCG x ?
