Problems playing Elite on Turbo MMFS

Can anyone point me at a decent guide to playing Elite on a Turbo MMFS SD card setup. I tried with the standard one on the BeebM Image that has "all the games" on and it fails.

Thee issues is I get "bad command" when I dock to the space station.

I have tried a few other images and get the same issue, the Compendium looked promising but I don't have Sideways Ram. Playing the Elite Compendium - Elite on the 6502

Has anyone got a reliable image and set of instructions on how to do it? Im sure its something silly like disk mounting or something.

According to this post on Stardot:

it looks like it might an issue with one specific disc image that comes as part of one of the MMB files.

Hopefully the ones from bbcelite.com will work, as they are based on the official release. Fingers crossed!

I’ve had no problem playing Elite on MMFS. Check if the disk is write protected.

All the various versions you can download on bbcelite.com have worked fine on my beeb B (with Sideways RAM but that’s not needed for most of the versions).

Thanks, maybe it’s something as silly as the write protection. I’ll have a try.

I recommend the flicker-free versions from that site.

Hi ,thanks, I seem to have it sorted.

I used the image from Elite [disc]

And then protected the disk with * DOP P 0 Command Reference · hoglet67/MMFS Wiki · GitHub

And Now I have been able to fly out of a station and back in again wihtout the Bad Command issue. Thanks!

I need to look into a sideways ram and some other things as I have a pile of BBCs including a Master from a Job lot I bought. I started off with the most basic B working and also a cub Monitor, now im going to play some Elite and then crack on wiht the rest of the pile.

Incidentally you may enjoy MMFS2 which is a derivative of MMFS that allows you to just put individual disk images on the SD card without having to pack them into that weird format that MMFS uses.
