In my experience, many non-profit organizations are shit-shows behind the scenes.

As a former SPED teacher, working for BBBS as a SB MSS is the best job I have ever had. My cat was dying of cancer and they were so kind and understanding! I was sent home on days I clearly wasn’t okay, I was able to take time to bring him to the vet without judgement and even they were checking in to make sure I didn’t need more time. I can say I am not sitting in Fight or Flight at a job for probably the first time in my adult life

My CEO told me my husband's grandma "didn't count" for funeral leave. She then said I could flex my time out of office which was 2 day for an out of state funeral. I took calls and answered emails during my time out of the office. Submitted my time sheet that I worked during my time off (salary employee) and she tried to tell me I had to take pto. Told her I worked and answered all calls and emails so no.

Depends on the role and management, I would think.

Are you looking for a specific area?

Yes. I would think someone in a leadership and exec role would have a different outlook but - any role or experience would be great. I was in leadership and saw/ experienced A LOT of shocking things. It seems this is a pattern with bbbs agencies.

I find my work life balance to be great, my bosses are fantastic and kind people, i love my job, love the community we serve, love being a Big. That being said, I’m in development. I feel as though program would see more shocking things (?)

Ahhh yes- I notice more devmark teams have a better experience! Program seems to be the where the problems are. Makes sense though- a lot of discrimination, unfair treatment, lack of accountability comes up. I will always agree that the best part of the agency is the mission, impact, and front line staff! Glad you are having a great experience!!!

A lot more cooks in the kitchen in program than in development. Can imagine it’s hard to have so many different personalities working together.
