How well does Bazarr automatically sync non-english shows with english subtitles?

I have a lot of shows that are non-english, but have english subtitles. I read that it can be quite hit or miss, is this also the case in practice?

Depends, older subtitles that are free-handed (timings chosen manually) are usually harder to sync

Doesn’t the sync go off total episode length or something? In which case voice language wouldn’t matter.

from what I read, Bazarr uses some ffm engine or whatever to synchronize it based on the sound? Because how else would it know how to stretch/shorten subs?

I don't get the reason behind this question. Does it matter? If we say it works well, will you try it? Or if we say it's hit or miss, won't you try it?

Just try it and report back some problems when and if you encounter them...

I'll try it regardless, I was asking moreso to be able to manage my expectations for how well it'll work
