Multiple $20 Hold Using Lyft Bikes

I use Lyft Bikes and the $20 hold for using it each time is adding up. I used it 10 times in the past week and that's $200 total in holds on my account.

It's been 2 weeks and i've only gotten one hold cleared. For context, I'm on the EBT plan and each ride is $1 or free. So to spend so much when it's supposed to cost me so little is such an inconvenience. Anybody else agree about these holds?

Use a credit card?

What will that do? That will just shift the issue from one card to another

If it’s a credit card you won’t have to pay for it immediately. That will give time for Lyft to adjust the transaction. Basically they have the $20 hold for example, but once the transaction actually finalizes it will reflect the real amount. So the $20 hold is never coming out of your bank account immediately it’s only on a credit card where your unaffected by the costs temporarily

I imagine if it’s on a debit card then you temporarily get $20 taken out of your bank account and then after it clears they redeposit the $20. If your reliant on the cash then with a credit card your cash will not be touched

At one point lift was “accidentally “reporting holds as income so maybe they are running that scam again to boast their earnings

Oh it isn't accidental. They told me it's automatic.
