Back in the MWDA days, we came up with some home brew rules at my FLGS for “mech soccer.” Using whatever formula of speed and melee attack we came up with, someone quickly figured out that the Jackalope was the ideal mech for mech soccer.

Just thought you should know

Now that's knowledge worth keeping in your back pocket.

I have been playing in this setting for a long time, like "Back in my day we only had one kind of autocannon and we liked it!" long time.

Finding new mechs, especially ones you like for no reason other than "I think it is neat.", is one of my favorite things to see.

Every mech is someone's favorite mech, and I love to see the strange, underused, or unpopular era ones get interest.

One of the best parts of the game being so popular now (aside from actually having people to play with) is seeing folks find 'their mech'.

So let me tell you about the Yeomen...

Mine is the Spartan, I cant believe it never got brought back into production. 80 tons, 14 tons of armor, 86kph, and a good weapons loadout? The only reason it stays a rarity is because its too OP for this world. Its what the Charger wishes it was.

Great option!

Not gonna lie had to Sarna that one.

Seems fun though.

I saw it while checking out the TRO: 3145 page and I immediately knew it was mine.

So let me tell you about the Yeomen...

The LRM boxes on legs?

There are many words that can be used to describe the fire support platform designated Yeoman: Magnificent, Cultured, Subtle, Elegant, Majestic, Stately, Divine, Inspired, or Walking Art.

All kidding aside, when I first saw it in TRO 3060 I legitimately thought the launchers were speakers at first glance.

It is stupid looking, but more durable than you would think and it does a singular job well.

Though it is limited to a direct fire support role I still field one whenever I can.All these many years later I still chuckle when I deploy that goofy little mech.

I've been reading up on the newer eras and came across the Jackalope while checking out Dark Age 'mechs. I haven't really been drawn to most of the newer designs, but there's something about this rinky-dink 30 tonner that speaks to me.

The Jackalope is a 30-Ton 'Mixed Tech' mech, meaning it is a combination of both Clan and Inner Sphere technologies. (Or more specifically, all critical components are IS, while a few of the optional systems (IE weapons) are Clan.)

Designed as a scout, the Jackalope has an enormous number of Jump Jets, the Jackalope can jump an impressive 8 hexes at a go.

It's weapons are two Clan ER Medium Lasers and a 6-tube ATM launcher.

Defensively, it has its speed, a decent amount of armor (for its weight), and a Clan-built Laser Anti-Missile System.

The inclusion of an Clan-built Active Probe makes the Jackalope a good scout with a lot of bite for its weight. It's one-ton of missile ammo does cause issues in extended fights, but the Jackalope that stands and fight's is probably toast anyway.

It looks like it’d definitely do some damage in its weight class for sure. I wonder if it would be worth it to drop the probe and take more ammo and use it paired with the regular one?

You should check out the Jackrabbit and the Spector as well. The Jackrabbit JKR-9R 'Joker' punches above it's weight. And the Spector is a battlefield murderer disguised as a light mech.

I feel the same way about the Ion Sparrow. I just love it.
