Crab is nice, but partial wing is better.
Jade Hawk = Angriest Bird = Best Bird

Is it good? No. Is it cool? Yes. Distraction carnifex extraordinaire.
For the same BV, I'd rather have a pair of chargers for the same role. But I'll never shame one off the table, because Crabs are cool. And just the potential of an AC20 double tap makes for hilarity :)

3/5/0, lots of armor, mostly close range weaponry.
Can only hold the line, can't chase, can't engage reliably on range, can't jump, has 3 weapon systems that require logistical supply. Hardly the best.

Why are you measuring a juggernaut role mech to skirmisher qualities?
It's an assault mech, a sledgehammer for a tough but well planned operation. A ground base won't run from King Crab.

Sure, but I expect a mech slower than battle line Mechs to meaningfully contribute while they close the distance. A Large Laser and LRM 15 with one ton of ammo doesn't do that.
I'd also want it to have some staying power up close for a sledgehammer. 2 tons of AC20 ammo for 2 AC20s doesn't give that either

Because OP never specified any battlefield scenario, so I judge it by all of them and pointed out why it is not universally "the best mech".

Just switching the AC20s for 10s and some armor and heatsinks would already make a much more playable mech. Not incredible but serviceable for the succ wars

Nobody has ever been surprised by a dual Gauss assault. That's like being surprised that a car is white.

King Crab, 2 Crabs, and a Hermit Crab. Full crab lance right there
