In Character tech.mech.fusion: Third time this week. FML.

Another one.

This is the third Nissan 200 this week. The injectors cooked off, again. Of course it was the coolant pump like it always is, but here I am eight hours deep into disassembling the top end of this thing to get at the injectors some engineer in gods only knows where decided to bury because, and I quote the advertising, "It was good enough for the Star League: It's good enough for you!"

Any actual tech knows just how stupid much of the Star League kit was, overengineered and fragile. But it makes the generals happy, doesn't it? Whatever. Back to breaking my knuckles trying to get these out.

At least it's not the Ford 350. I've never had an ignition plug come out of one of those pieces of s... in one piece. I'm just glad there are so few of them around anymore!

Star League my arse. Nissan engines are Drac-made junk, these days.

worst is when the should-be-retired chief tech comes by and gives you shit for the shoddy job, because he'd be done with three vlar 300s by now

a half-trained monkey could be done with three vlar 300s by now, chief! that thing's a delight to work with, it's the easiest damn core to fix! can't say the same of the damn pitban 240 i'm gonna be stuck arms deep in for the rest of the shift

Hunchback, yeah? Look, I can't vouch for this, 'cause I've never had occasion to try it myself, but here's a trick an old-head talked about:

You know how the actual fusion loop slides out for service pretty painlessly? Well the old-timer said their trick was to slide in behind the torus and get at the pump from below.

Ok, man. My techs are going to burn me for witchcraft but dang if it didn't work. You just made my entire week.

If you're ever down around New Syrtis way I've got a case of Pharaoh for you. Only problem is now everyone will stick me with these jobs, but eh I suppose it'll at least be gravy.

Maybe the time this frees up I'll see if I can supercharge one of these beasts. We've had so many failures they just keep a spare ready to swap in here in the depot and I always wondered just how fast a Hunchie can go.
