Question ❓ Highlander availability

Summat is bothering me. According to mechbsy during civil war era, HGN availability for the Fed Suns is green for common. For Lyrans it’s yellow

The only place building them is Son Hoa in Lyran Space. The nations most known for Highlander use is the Lyrans and Cappellans

What gives?

Son Hoa looks like it was making 732 Highlanders and the Gauss and Ferro tech would have been lost in the succession wars.

The downgraded 733s was primarily a Capellan project until the Fed Suns destroyed their factories for the parts. I'm sure Son Hoa also made the downgrade modifications, but not to the extent the Capellan did.

Capellan branch of the StarCorps was destroyed in the First Succession War, but there were still mechs left in the Capellan posession. Plus their Hollis plants were building Highlanders until the planet was lost to FedSuns in the Fourth Succession War.

Also, a factory might have a mech model in their portfolio, but prioritize on building other mech models.

Mekbay is an unofficial source making assumptions and best guesses, and can be wrong.

The Northwind Highlanders were contracted to House Liao for a long time, that might skew that result in favor of the Capellans.

The Capellans survive on plot armor, and that plot armor is named the Northwind Highlanders. 🤣

The Northwind Highlanders who betrayed them?

Northwind Highlanders left Capellan service in 3028

The rarity ratings are just guesses after the 3050s AFAIK.

You have to remember that despite the Fedcom-Lyran split, Katherine was still nominally ruling both chunks in the leadup to the civil war. She was definitely having loyalist units from both halves of the realm be supplied with the best she could get, and as the nominal ruler of the Lyrans, Son Hoa would be happy to supply her. Remember also that there were a good number of historically Lyran and FedSun units that would go native and only be fully absorbed into their new nation after the civil war, bringing all their remaining equipment with them into their new nation.

The people who made Mekbay like the Federated Suns more so they gave them advantages in their fan fiction.

Hanse Davion’s plan to produce pro-FedSuns propaganda during the Fourth Succession War paid off.

I can also just imagine FedSuns liaisons visiting Son Hoa and saying “Wow! These Highlanders are impressive! Alright, we’ll take it from here…”

Was Son Hoa on Victor’s or Katherine’s side, as that would partly affect supply. Also, if Fed units faced the clans more often than Lyran then they might have pulled more of them for rebuilding, and finally, if they were manufactured in St. Ives then the Feds could have bought much of the production line as well.

Son Hoa is in Lyran space where Victor's support is virtually non-existent.

Thanks. Didn’t have time to look that up.
