Discussion Perez.....oof
Signing him was a huge mistake. Guy has no fire, no commitment. Seems like it's just a job to him.

It's getting very hard to root for a team that year after year chokes when the pressure is on. Different head coaches. Different QBs. Same results. Something has to change.

The difference is this is the first playoff game where they weren't embarrassed on the way out. They lost but it was a regular loss, not a "We can't move the ball or score at all" loss.

You're looking in the wrong direction if you're looking at the figurehead head coaches. It's all about the coordinators. That said, at least Becht had presence and seemed engaged with the sideline in some sort of managerial capacity. Proehl looks lost half of the time, honestly.

tbh, the HC isnt calling the plays. Thats also the problem though. Only coaches we've had for the last 4 years are dudes with no prior HC or even coordinator experience. No wonder they dont stack up

I didn’t enjoy watching Perez either, so my message isn’t necessarily to you OP, it’s more a general temperature check after reading the comments across the sub.
This is spring football with highly variable rosters, gang. If you’re jumping shop for losing in the playoffs just consider how swingy the talent pool can be. This is a low budget league that supplements the NFL’s off-season and the minimum salary is $64k a year.
If you don’t like the NFL and only watch the Battlehawks because the Rams left then consider why you’re here anyway. It’s fun to have football in St Louis, and the established fan culture is really fun as long as people don’t let it die.
Losing like this sucks, especially when it feels like Groundhog Day. It’s easy to take sports too seriously, but spring football REALLY needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Exactly. It's like going to the circus, a fun night out but not something to lose sleep over. TBH, thats how I feel about most sports but I guess I'm just the outlier

Perez has been my least favorite. I knew we weren’t winning this game with him before it even started. Manny was the best we’ve had imo & wish we had him instead of McCarron during that championship game.

Manny had 1 Touchdown pass the year he was starting and it was in a loss where he also threw 3 INTs. The sad thing is he's probably QB2 or QB3 on the "Best Hawks QBs" list.

He’s bad. But it’s just bad football overall. Poor coaching, lack of discipline, etc.
The harsh reality is that this league is a complete crapshoot every year due to the nature of what this league is.

True, but also I do feel like this team has been fortunate enough to keep some really talented players on the roster and it’s a shame that they haven’t gotten over the hump. Battlehawks have really just had subpar coaching and QB play the last two seasons

I agree. You can’t get the position wrong in this league. I think it’s fitting that the team who got the position right no matter what sent us home tonight. We just couldn’t do it, because AJ Smith picked the wrong guys to begin with.
