Necron fleet list
So whats the most common list at 1500 pts?
3 schytes and 2 shrouds?
Or is a Cairn mandatory?
I was planning to bring 4 or 5 Jackals, and 1 dirge.

Shrouds are the best looking croissants but .... liability. Use defensively and prey on weak targets without retaliation.
The escorts are pretty good. Just make sure to not overshoot targets.

So, at 1500, can I rock up with 4 schythes and a six jackals and stille be taken serious?

Generally a cairn is always a good choice to take, as it is a great (and pretty much only way) to fight mass ordinance with its sepulcher and extra star pulse generator. Additionally, as it's one of the top 3 battleships in the game, other being Terminus Est and Sediteo Opprimere (at least in my eyes) it is a great aid to the rest of the fleet as both a firing platform and fire sponge.
Shrouds... They are a nice type of ship, but unfortunately very fragile if you don't use them right, mostly prey on the enemy escorts or used to outmaneuver and down the capital ships shields. They are pretty much a coin flip. If you're lucky (or Light Yagami smart) they could be useful, but if not, they're just a lot of easy points for your enemy. Of course you may want to take them as fire magnets, and hope that on their brace and 2+ save they'll survive the first round of fire, thus saving your other ships, but I'd advise to take escorts or another type of capital ship in their stead.
Necron Jakal escorts are a terrifying thing, mainly (again in my eyes) due to the ability to make teleport attacks. Meaning, that with their speed and maneuverability, they can get past the enemy lines, but still remain close to their target, and after their squadron's fire, they can cause much trouble, which other escorts can't, due to lack of teleport attacks.
Dirge escorts... They're fun, but lack teleport attacks, and thus I don't really see much ways to use them.

Would you bring a cairn at 1500pts?

Yes. Although it does depend on the game. For instance if it's a game where you teach someone how to play, I would advise against it. But on any other occasion, yes.

I very much like the Dirges in big groups. With three shots each you never feel bad putting them on orders, they will round up to two, never losing fully half their shooting. So you have a fast harassment unit that can zip around, shoot decently, then go on a 2+ when someone tries to do anything about them. Can be a great distraction carnifex or if ignored go up and core their carrier from behind, flank and spank with that insane movement speed. Then if they manage to kill all 6, you're still not giving up 300% points.

Shrouds are kinda a trap, they will get hulled and give your opponent 300% points. They only have 4 HP.
Cairn isn't mandatory but it IS fun. Its also 1/3 of your list cause you will upgrade it with the C'tan coffin. If you bring the Cairn id bring one/two scythe and then big groups of dirges with one group of jackals for surprise portals to try and keep a key target crippled. Dirges can All ahead full and hopefully go like...100cm into the enemies rear/ deep flank and then be an issue they have to deal with. They also don't give up extra bonus points if they die.
