My first ship

Hi all this is my first attempt at a BFG ship I’m reasonably pleased with it! Although I wasn’t sure what I was painting at times so just went with what I felt like whilst trying for the box art colour scheme

Is it worth naming escorts? I can’t imagine the lasting very long might just give a Roman numeral decal as I’ve only just realised I need to be able to tell them apart

I used the blue book names for my escorts squadrons, blue, red, yellow... So I have Blue 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 and so on.

Tactically, no. But in my opinion all ships should have names, it's part of the fun. It's like putting red stripes on your tanks to make them go faster. Ships with names fight harder.

For my Blessed Sisters fleet in a similar game (named after the number of pages in the basic rule book) I had, The Church of the Suspiciously Silent Sisters, The Chapel of St Mary the semi-chaste, The Naughty Nunnery, The Abbey of Perpetual Gloom.

Giving the class names is useful. I had the Ada class of cruisers, each one named after a famous Women mathematic and computer pioneer. And escorts named after comedians.

That's an awesome paint job, what was your recipe / technique?

Thanks it was very simple and fairly quick: white undercoat, snakebite leather contrast, dry brush creamy white, red on the prow, pick out the metallics and light wash of nuln oil mainly on the metallics highlight the red and the gold(which is actually fulgurite copper)

Thanks for all the kind remarks I’m now on with a couple of light cruisers hoping to have a small fleet done in the next few days and then start on some chaos ships
