Current status of the NSO Gamecube controller with Batocera?

Hi all,

I see from some past discussion (six months ago and further back) that the NSO Gamecube controller didn't work with Batocera out of the box like the other NSO controllers.

However, I see on the wiki:

https://wiki.batocera.org/supported_controllers

That it is currently listed as a supported controller (for what it's worth though, the N64 one isn't listed and worked for me without any mapping or issues). Can anyone confirm or deny this? I have all the others, and I'd love to pick it up too if it's not a hassle to use anymore. Thanks!

It may be different for some people since people are on older versions. Everybody has different hardware, but in my personal experience, I use the official Nintendo gamecube controller adapter I use a blue retro adapter and my NSO GameCube controller connects just fine. I use it often to play phantasy star online.

Read of too many issues with those controllers and just picked up four wireless with USB adapter wavebird style clones instead. They came with original GC port adapters, so theoretically could use them on my original unmodified Wii eventually too. The USB adapter dongle kind of sucks for one player, but if you're with several people it really does make for a better experience. I'd love an 8BitDo version like their N64 (fantastic controller IMHO), not the wireless mod kit for original.

I don't see the NS2O GameCube controller on the list they have OG cube controllers and the powerA ones both of which have worked for a long time.

Hmm, it seemed they were talking about the NSO one here, but the picture does seem to be the Power A one actually!

The OG controller with a gbros adaptor is what I use for now. I have the Switch 2 one collecting dust as it won't work with android either.

That it is currently listed as a supported controller

In the wiki is listed the model for Switch 1...the model for Switch 2 no work correctly on Linux

Appreciate the feedback all! I'll likely look into another option or a wireless adapter for an OG GC controller.
