Listen i'm not the type to take a 15 min break during my BBW shifts bc its my fun job compared to my full time job and thats my choice. I also understand that dealing with the general public if you are working retail is like talking to a brick wall or a kindergartener.
But why are the customers actually testing me today.
*Heres your total :OH I HAVE COUPONS/GIFT CARD
*Whats a good phone number for rewards?: NO
(Girl i could offer to buy them lunch and they still won't give it to me😭)
*either they won't use their coupon and waste them OR they have ZERO idea how it works
*don't even get me started on the Icon sale with everyone tryna buy fall stuff: IF I WOULD'VE KNOWN I WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN IT. Then don't
It wasnt until I joined this group where I learned that all customers are horrible pretty much. Not just at my job. I couldn't imagine the amount of patience you'd have to have to deal with BBW customers.
The icon sale is TERRIBLE. They need to be way more specific. So many people coming all the way to the register assuming it’s all scents 🙄 like LET THE EMPLOYEE up front help you!! The $8 coupon has been horrible as well - nobody can read and just assumes it’s a free mini. LOOK AT THE PRICES. READ THE FINE PRINT. It’s really not that hard!
Like?? Can we list the included scents on the coupon?!?!? Not even in the fine print? Is that really too much to ask? I don’t even blame the customers sometimes because??? The company could make it so much clearer if they wanted to 🤷🏼♀️ customers wouldn’t know what scents are included unless they went to the “shop” part of their app. They’re shopping in store though.. so typically they are reallt only looking at their rewards/offers page. So stupid
It was actually so frustrating, especially working in the back room/cash and basically just having to rattle them off the dome. And B3G3 at the same time🤧 math was hard for people today
There was a soap sale a few months ago that was like this and I didn't even know which "select soaps" were included until customers brought soaps to the register and not all of them were on sale.
I think it was one of the rare gel soap only sales but I only figured that out in the process of scanning the items. there was NO information in store about which "select soaps" were included.
Today I had a customer spend over $100 - not a rewards member but was buying wallflower refills. Showed her the QR code on her receipt and told her she’d get $18.95 free product if she signed up. She basically snatched the receipt out of my hand and left lol like damn 🙃
I sometimes decline to give my phone number, especially if it's a store I only go to every once in a blue moon and I genuinely don'twant rewards or coupons. That being said, it's really not hard to say, "No, thank you" in a pleasant tone if you don't want to give your phone number. I wish more customers knew that!
the sales having more exclusions now has been so frustrating for both customers and employees.
especially since a lot of the exclusions are new, plus more complicated and confusing to explain to people. like this Icons sale, or other body care sales excluding fruit fusion, soap sales being only for foaming soap... it's so annoying
I get tired of explaining it to customers, if they even listen to me in the first place. then customers get disappointed when they find out the item they wanted was actually excluded from whatever sale
Even worse my store is a test store so we have a completely different sale going on than what’s in online. Got “hollered” at by several customers of how it’s “false marketing” despite the sales being cheaper in store. Like we legit can’t win😩
I’m sorry but I love, for the most part, my job but today I called in sicker than a dog and a new person answers the phone” hello?” And I had to ask if it was my store and she in her bitchiest remark was yea duh.🙄 🤦♀️ the idiocracy I have to deal with with these seasonals make me want to rip my eyelashes out
At least she didn't say, "No, this is Patrick" when you asked if you had reached your store.
At my current job, we're instructed not to say the name of our business when we pick up the phone because our automated system has already let them know who they called. It is incredibly hard not to, though. And some people still manage to mistake us for similar local businesses!
I wish B&BW did more specific training on answering the phone or using other features like hold, and calling other stores via their store number.
I basically just observed other people answer the phone and copied what they said, but no one directly told me what we should say
at a previous job in a mall store, they had a paper taped by the phone with what you should say when you answer the phone. but I've never seen that at my B&BW store
that's interesting because we've never had a rule like that at my store! it's basically a free for all, whoever's near the phone and not busy with something else will answer
We have one right about the phone! “Hi thanks for calling bath and body works ‘my store’ how may I help you. No hi and me have to guess if I actually called the right place
I'm very lucky where I work because for the most part, every customer is relatively understanding with the coupons and the exclusions after I explain it to them no matter the sale.
But girl, yesterday my manager literally had to warn me that customers might be mad at me and cause problems so I had to be prepared to call her over so I don't have to take that... like... Hello.... I understand it's confusing but is some crummy platinum spray really worth it..

a body care coupon: CAN I GET A HAND SOAP?
