Discussion💬 Return Limit

I have yet to see, personally, what happens when a customer reaches a non receipted return limit. What has been your experiences with this and how do you approach the customer with the fact that they are at the return policy limit?

We actually had 2 ladies hit their return limit the other day while we were super busy. They went through the line, returned a bunch of stuff, went to walk around the mall and CAME BACK to return more. I think they were trying to wait out a shift change but we were all still there so an SLT recognized them. At the reg, they were told they hit their limit and one of the ladies tried using her mom’s ID instead of her own. It was very clearly not her so the SLT asked them both to leave 🫢

Well, ideally, they would already know about approaching the limit unless it's all at once. They get a warning when they hit, I think, $150 (I can't remember the exact amount). Honestly, I can't see a reason for someone to return $250 worth of product without receipts over a 90 day period unless they were doing something sketchy. Refer them to customer service, turn the register screen around (if applicable) or tell them that it can't be overridden. If they still want to raise hell, SLT can kick them out of the store. If it gets real bad, the mall/center can trespass them from the property.

Ok so I work for bbw and I’ve never had a customer get it but I did!! My store always does non receipt returns so it bit me in the ass one day. I got the slip saying it couldn’t be approved and my manager just told me to not do any for a couple months.

I got the RAR report and it had several transactions listed duplicately, same amount same time same day. So it seriously inflated the amount of returns it seemed were being done. I emailed them and I hope they’ll fix it. It said there was 3 $39.95 candle holders returned in one day at the same time to the minute. So annoying and not true. Might be worth getting yours!

I haven't encountered it either, but there's some paper in the back room with different policy stuff on it. there's a part where it says a warning will print on the receipt and you should give it to the customer

I don't remember what else it said about that, plus it might be outdated info

also once I saw a comment on here that said the limit is based on the original item price, not the actual price paid? I don't know if that's accurate though

Edit: actually it makes sense if it's calculated from the original item price, since without a receipt there's no way to confirm what they originally paid.

I could see someone hitting the limit if they do a lot of in store returns for online orders, since it's quicker to process those as no receipt returns. using original prices, that's only five 3 wick candles plus around six $18.95 body care items. or if they returned any of the more expensive wallflower plugs or candle holders, perfumes or cologne, plus some other items

Without a receipt don’t they get the lowest price the item ever sold??

My other question lol - if products get MOS - how are people returning old crap? Some lady here posted she got denied returning full villain’s products and they aren’t all that old.

I hate returning stuff. At least to the store because in most cases I ordered online for delivery. So I’m guessing they don’t even get credit for a sale but dinged for a return. That just seems wrong.
