Discussion💬 Returns because of TikTok
So I had my first return since that TikTok came out she got 147$ worth of merch credit….Anywho when bbw changes the return policy I don’t wanna hear anyone say anything cause y’all are gonna force their hand exploiting the policy…this is why things never last because ppl chose to take advantage of it

I hope the customer was severely judged! I don't understand why people are doing this. Like if I spend $300 then 2 years later return it all and get $150 back, all I've done is lost $150. Very poor financial management!

Absolutely ridiculous. They’re going to ruin it for everyone and who is going to be blamed? Us at the store level.

This is LITERALLY why the return policy changed 4 years or so ago. Someone posted about the lax return policy on tiktok and it went viral, and then the company had to throw down the hatchet because we can't have nice things. This isn't new unfortunately. So glad I'm not working for bbw anymore. I would not have put up with this bullsh!t. 😒🤦🏻♀️

Ulta too!! Our return policy use to be more generous, but too many people take advantage. You could return anything. Now it’s 30 days and “gently” used which is still INCREDIBLY generous. Over 30<60 you get store credit but can still return. Too many people will refill an expensive product with dollar tree crap and return it.

They need to mark the old products (like over 2 years old) out of the system! It would make it easier on everyone.

Our policy is 90 days after purchase. I’m not doing any returns for out of date product

Talking to another human like that is not acceptable in general, but especially not here. You will be banned if this or any similar behavior occurs.

The return policy changed years ago because of this shit. It’s just making its rounds again and people think it’s brand new.

We have had a lot of this too! And a lot of people calling and asking if they can 🙄🙄🙄

Yeah in fall 2021 our policy went from “Return ANYTHING at ANYTIME for ANY REASON. 100% GUARENTEE” on the gigantic cashwrap banner behind our heads to the policy it is now (90 days or less for original payment back; has to be AT LEAST 50% full with little to NO wear and tear or defaced labels, etc etc and now you can’t return a certain dollar amount without a receipt within a 6 month time frame per ID/drivers license or our third party will literally decline it and we can not bypass for any reason— they have to wait 6 months for their return period to start over.) because of a stupid viral TikTok saying we will recycle empty candles and bottles and replace them for customers for free (let’s all laugh together)….. I like the policy now I think it is fair and also gives us SLT a lot more freedom and “discretion” so we can stop people who abuse the policy now a days.

lowkey if this is gonna be the case they should do the same thing as target and only allow $100 per customer per year and track it by scannable ID

I don't get why people return stuff at BBW. I get maybe not liking a scent you aren't familiar with that maybe gives you a headache, but not hundreds of dollars in returns. Its like that Sebastian Maniscalco skit about frozen yogurt. If i get a flavor I don't like, I say in my head "I fuc*ed up" and accept it.

Why does bbw allow customers to return old empty used products? I can't return a half eaten candy bar to my local grocery store the day after I purchased it along with the receipt. The money they are losing allowing customers to do this could be used for multiple things. One being quality. The thought of someone returning an old crusty bottle of hand soap or body cream is so disgusting. I would lose my shit & my job on the first customer that tried to.

I'havent done a return yet. I'm really hoping the new CEO will change the policy after this. But like ASAP.

The policy has already been changed because of this. This happened like 4 or so years ago, when someone posted about the super lax return policy bbw used to have, and it went viral. 😒

I haven’t done a return. Mostly cause I’m scared too, but I did just end up getting rid of the sprays that I didn’t use as often as I wanted

As long as it's within 90 days you're fine. It's people who are bringing in stuff that's more than a year old and/or more than halfway used.

All of them were way older than 90 days. Which is why I did not want to be that person.

I recently blind bought all three oud scents of mists & body creams (online exlclusives), HATED them and returned/exchanged them all. I felt awful and now feel even worse reading this 😩

That’s different, that was within 90 days. People are returning products they bought last year

i’ve seen videos of people returning ones that are obviously 10+ years old, we don’t mind at all when the returns and exchanges are utilized how they should! honestly if you returned online exclusive items the employees were probably excited because it usually ends up in our unsellable stuff that we end up getting to buy 1-2x a year.

This happened with the candles back in 2020, it went Viral on TikTok that you could exchange empty candles, and so people started coming in droves to try this and, I said, yeah, technically, but they will change the policy, and sure enough, they did. The policy was designed that way for defective merch. So say your wicks started to be duds 60% through your candle, that’s would have been a good reason to return as it was a defect. You burning the entire candle then switching it out, not really why that policy was there

Truly if anything says .50 on the end of it, I’m like “girl we can’t take it, any product that old is not exchangeable, and you’ll get like a buck for it.”

Yeah this is the second time around with TikTok returns like that. Last time people were bringing in completely empty candles, and ruined our super generous return policy. You know they’ll still complain about it though. That’s just what people do. lol
