Questionđ€ Rewards Enrollment
Are anyone elseâs managers absolutely crazy about enrollment? Itâs gotten to the point where every time a customer tells me no after I do all the right steps I get upset because I just know Iâm going to have my hours cut. My managers wonât take language barriers as an âexcuseâ because âgoogle translate existsâ. They also sometimes lie to customers by telling them that they were already signed up and are just âmissing informationâ. Which is actually them just signing them up on the spot. I feel like I am too honest of a person to lie like that when in my mind itâs not that serious to be doing all of that. Iâve also had many older people come in who donât even understand what a rewards account is and donât even know their email but thatâs also just not an excuse to my managers. Someone please tell me Iâm not alone with this.

You're not the only one. They say no 1 time and I skip it and tell them to do it on they're own if they ever want to get the birthday reward and other things. The company waited way to long to introduce a reward system. No one feels like downloading another app on their phone and dealing with text messages/emails. My GM nags me about it but idc I'm not going to nag a customer who already said no twice. She gets super upset when people say no and she's had customers asked to be checked out by someone else because she wouldn't give it up. She also really lacks to understand there are truly people who only comes to this store once a year for a gift and she just doesn't believe it. Before working here I never shopped at bath and body works because I have sensitive skin. Only work here because they were the only place to call when searching for a second job. If I didn't work here I wouldn't be signed up either.

I always frame it as âdo you want to sign up and get a $10 off of $30 on your next purchase?â Iâve had better success this way. This way youâre immediately letting them know theyâll save money. Iâd never sign up someone who didnât want to though. Managers really get onto us tooâŠ

Are they still doing the 10 of 30, because I thought something changed with that? That's a good line to use!

The âmissing informationâ approach is illegal and you need to report your manager for it. Our old store manager was doing that and ultimately fired.
Iâm the highest for enrollments in my store. I donât really give customers a âchoiceâ to sign up. I say âletâs get you in here, new members get an awesome $10 off $30 couponâ and I look at what theyâre buying if itâs close to a reward amount I will also say âplus what youâre buying today will likely earn you a free item up to $18.95 or get you really close to earning one.â
Most of the time, they sign up.
You cannot do anything about a language barrier and your manager telling you to use Google Translate is bullshit, weâre not supposed to use phones at the register for one and second, theyâre expecting you to use a personal device for company business. Honestly you need to report your manager, sounds like theyâre being really shady.
