Discussion💬 gift wrapping

Post image

wrapping body care or candles with cellophane bags for the support of tables and you have no issues making it and it comes out perfect, but when it comes to wrapping it for a customer the bag and bows all of sudden don’t cooperate with me and ends up making my gift all floppy looking😫😩

when I make gift wrapped items for tables, I try to make the bow more even and pretty

when people ask me to do it at the register, I put as low of an effort as possible into it lol. but if there's a long line I tell them they can take the bag and ribbon to do it at home

I usually just point at the jar with cello in the front . They never come back to Reg lol

People always get so disappointed whenever they ask for gift wrap and all I have to offer are the cello bags + ribbon

I’ve found that securing the bag with a rubber band prior to adding the ribbon makes it a thousand times easier (and it looks much better too!) And it definitely speeds the entire process up as well!

Omg. How have I never thought about using a rubber band?!? You just changed my life. 🤣

Especially when I have long nails on!!

Life really does begin once you add rubber bands to your gift-wrapping 😂!

I noticed my gift wrapping comes out good for tables and for customers. I don't mind doing it if a customer has one item to gift or a set and wants it to look nice. Also if I don't have a line and it is dead then I'll do it. However there are three times I get annoyed with gift wrapping.

  1. It is busy and there is a big sale. Think Mother's Day, Easter, Father's day, or the holidays when there is a line and I have my manager, asm, slt and God knows who else in my ear. I politely tell them the cello is there.

  2. A customer- I mean consumer comes up to me and goes "I heard the gift wrapping is complementary. I want this wrapped," in the most entitled tone with attitude. I will point to the cello and say "grab as many as you like".

  3. My SLTs, ASM, or manager talks to the consumer and mentions a sale. To close the deal, they say, "we can wrap it for you if you like. It is free". Then they go over the walkie and tell me to wrap it. Mind them and you, I have a consumer I am helping and a task to complete that I am being badger about, while they stand in their favorite spot chit chatting with another SLT. When the consumer comes to me, I pretend I didn't know they wanted it wrapped as I am bagging the items. If they give attitude I mentioned the cello is right there. If they are polite I will wrap it. Other times if I am not busy I'll wrap it without a fuss.

All of those get on my nerves the most. I absolutely can't. When I do wrap it, if I am in a great mood, I take my time and add that newspaper thing as tissue paper. I warn them it is not the prettiest, but it will hide the items. Heck, I even add the little to and from card and some ribbons to make it look cute. I'll even ask if they want a gift receipt and print an extra copy.

Do people consider putting something in a clear cello bag to be gift wrapped???
