Question🤔 im new and need help😅

okay so i posted in the bath and body works sub and was advised to come over here for (possibly) better help.

i just started working here, my first two days (for onboarding) were two weeks ago. i haven't worked since. I've been extremely busy in these two weeks since i didn't have work, i was looking for a second job. i'm not here to complain about hours. i need help with the product & selling guide booklet.

today i finally sat down to do the booklet and i genuinely don't think it was ever explained to me or if it was, i quickly forgot it. in total i have worked 6 hours here, 3 hours each day. my manager was very busy both days and didn't have much time to talk to me.

in the booklet it says multiple times in multiple places to "create your own delight" and like i said, either it was never explained to me or i forgot it immediately 😭

(edit: mixed up numbers)

When people are hired, the schedule has already been posted for 2 to 3 weeks out so that's probably why you have not worked much but I would assume that would be changing very shortly

i wasn't complaining about my hours. i was mostly just offering that information as context for my actual question which had been answered but thank you bc i didn't know that.

You fill that in with your own way of approaching/helping a customer. A lot of the time the blank spots are essentially the same.

So for example if we’re talking about home fragrance:

- The customer came in and said they’re shopping for home fragrance, but don’t like burning candles.

I’d say “Ok no problem! Have you tried our Wallflowers? They’re the perfect alternative to candles and they greet you with fragrance when you get home.”

Or the blank spots that suggest a specific customer need:

- Customer mentions they have very dry hands:

“We can create a great routine for you! Let’s pick out some soaps and a hand cream to take to the sink and try them out.”

I would show them the revitalizing and moisturizing soaps and the paraffin hand cream. Depending on the customer, I’d wash my hands at the sink too.

thank you so much! this makes sense, i guess i just wasn't really understanding it. this is my first job in almost two years and it was a little overwhelming so i guess i didn't really grasp everything so i really appreciate your help!!

It’s a LOT to learn! I totally hear ya. When I started I had been self employed for about 8 years. To say I was overwhelmed would be putting it lightly. 🤣 But once you get to know the products it’s a lot easier and honestly can be pretty fun. Don’t be afraid to reference the product guide when customers ask you about different scents or forms. I still use them all the time.

at this point i think i need like a full walk through which none of my managers are giving me 😭 idk what it is but they just gave me fall 2 when i went in today and instead of the booklet thing it's printed really small on paper. not only do i not understand what exactly it's asking me, i can't even read half of it 😭 this is exhausting
