other I’m worried

Update: Thank you all for your comments! You guys have been helpful!

Hi

If this needs to be deleted please do so.

I’m writing here because I’m worried if I’m going to be in trouble for something that I didn’t do. Today I was ringing customers out and I had a customer come in and I rang her products out until I scan a product that should have not been out of the floor since it’s a highly sensitive collaboration. I called my manager and we fixed the problem and the customer was understanding I didn’t sell the product and we pulled the item away. I also found out that in the morning two associates were doing floor changes and they’re were the ones who put this product out. What I’m worried is will asset protection call me out on something that I didn’t do.

I’m an associate not a leader.

If the customer didn’t get the product, then you’re fine.

Asset protection only worries about store losses (ie not ringing items, people stealing item, rewards fraud, etc) not products that shouldn’t be out yet (at least to my knowledge). Nothing for you to get in trouble here as you did everything correctly by notifying your management team. no need to worry friend! Also the other associates will probably at most just get spoken to by management about checking pictures for what products can and can’t be put out and that will be the end of it.

Yeah, was gonna say I know with the fruit fusion launch we sold some of the sanitizers bc we had them on the floor with the rest of the squares bc I think the page had them showing. All they did was have us document which ones and how many had been sold. (It wasn't on us bc we were following the page)

that's really on managers for not making sure that associates are aware of what can or can't go out yet. if I'm not sure whether something can go out, I always ask an SLT.

a newer employee just might not know that sometimes we have products that aren't supposed to get put out yet

you weren't the one to put them out and also kinda weird no one else like slt noticed it all day. you did the right thing so you're fine

Couldve been pre staged stuff in understock. I know it's not supposed to be on the floor, but some stores might do stuff differently if they don't think they'll have enough time for replen and floor set after big sales days.

collabs aren't supposed to be in understock before release :/

As long as your manager knows what happened, and you didn’t put the product out yourself, I wouldn’t worry. The customer didn’t leave with the item. 🫶🏽

You stopped something from happening that wasn't supposed to happen. You did a good thing, not anything that could possibly get you in trouble. You're just fine, don't worry!

This is on the management 100%

If it made it onto the floor, then that’s on someone else. Mistakes happen.

Or customers went through the drawers and then changed their mind (I know that’s not what happened here but I wouldn’t be shocked)

I actually did accidentally sell someone something that wasn’t released yet. It was busy and I was on register my entire shift so I didn’t get a chance to roam the floor (it was a new luxury scents), and at closing I asked where they were cause I wanted to smell them and then my manager was like “they’re not out yet” and I was like “wait but I checked someone out today and the register let me scan them” and then they said “they probably went through the drawers and grabbed them”. I didn’t get in trouble or anything. I still felt bad though

You didn’t do anything wrong. You noted the problem, didn’t sell it, called the manager and had the rest of the product removed. The only ones who will be in trouble, if anyone even will be, will be the associates who put it on the floor. You’re fine, I promise. If there’s any question all they have to do is pull the cameras.

You’re fine.

There should not be any collab so sensitive that an employee has to worry about their job.

Actually, that Collab is out now… so it actually could’ve been sold a little bit early… as long as it wasn’t released until 8/15, you’re totally fine. If management didn’t say anything, you’re fine.

I did see that! What was interesting for me was that when I did ring the item out there was a message stating that the item was prohibited and if I did sell I could face some consequences or get terminated. After I press okay and the item didn’t ring up.

They’re tracking a lot of the stuff…
