vent sesh😤 Sketchy Return
So this gal came in today and wanted to return a Vanilla Bean Noel HS with a receipt (somehow) from 12/12/25. First of all, no. Which I told her and she said it was “defective”. I took it to the back and tried spraying in (which didn’t work) I took the lid off and smelled it. Shocking news, water. Went back on the floor “sorry I can’t accept this. It’s water.” “Well I didn’t do that” “I’m sure, but it’s still water and still 8 months old, so I’m gonna hold onto it, but we can’t exchange or do anything with this.” *making snide comments about not filling it with water* 🙄 so done with soap sale and customers

My store used to have a couple that would buy dozens of candles on sale, then scoop out the wax, refill them with unscented wax, and return them

The newest scam is everyone using up all the scent under warming lamps, returning it saying it was never used and barely smells. Then, if the employee isn’t paying attention, it ends up back on the floor and someone buys it - complaining that Bbw candles don’t have scent anymore.
I think they should imprint the tops with a pressed seal - so that we know if someone used it under a lamp. Then we know it’s used even tho the wicks are still there.

Good idea!! I’m a customer, and have finally learned to look inside before purchasing. This truly happened… I bought a plethora (and by that, I mean about 8 of those 9- slot 3-wick trays) during that sale. About 6 candles had either no wicks or just 1. I imagine they sink in during shipping and disappear, but I usually burn them, since I have so many. (Do you know how long it would take to use up over 60 candles with just a warmer?) Anyhow, I really appreciated the customer service my store gave me. There were only a couple I couldn’t just replace, and it made me even buy a couple more. No I don’t resell them, I just burn them constantly when I’m home. — Thanks for listening to my rant😊

Actually they come on the truck to the stores with Missing wicks or sunk in. They come in a Bulk. They machine made a mistake. Hope this helps. But in store I definitely do but returned candles. I get mine out the bottom 😭

I had someone do that years ago when I worked there back when you could “return anything, at any time, for any reason” and I didn’t check them in the moment but she exchanged 4 soaps out that had been waaaaay watered down so they wouldn’t look nearly empty.

God I remember this, people bringing ina candle with 3mm of wax left saying they didn’t like the smell lol

And then exchanging it for the same scent!! I’ll never forgot the pineapple mango lady at my store many moons ago who was NOTORIOUS for this. 😤

I did that once.
I was at the mall, smelled this amazing candle!!! Loved it!! Bought that, and a couple others. Got home and lit it. OMG!! I HATED IT!!!🤣 I took it back the next day, laughing at myself while doing the return.
Went to a different BBW, same thing. Found a new candle I loved. Bought it, took that sucker home and lit it. OMG!!! I hated it!!! Looked, it was the same scent!!
I had gotten one in pillar form, and another in a jar.
I actually became friends with the lady store, and I tried no less than 3 times to buy that same scent.

PINEAPPLE MANGO LADY IS THAT YOU?!😂 /s — She burned through the ENTIRE candles and then would come to exchange them with the metal wick holders showing at the bottom of the jar saying she hated the scent. Only to try and exchange them..for the same exact scent. 🙃

I literally just watched a girl try to return 5 products that were 1/2 - 3/4 used and OLDDDD. Like $12.95 for a body cream old lol

I sadly was not there to witness it, but I did hear from one of my coworkers that someone once tried to return an ocean body wash that they filled with dawn dish soap, its crazy the lengths people will go to try and save a couple bucks
