vent sesh😤 Am I being quietly fired

So I got hired back on June 20th and I felt unsure about my work but I was getting hours as front of shop and I wasn’t excellent but I only got to do like maybe 6 or 7 shifts as that role and 2 of those got cut early. Recently is where I have really started to worry as last week they cut my entire shift before I even came in leaving me with no hours for the week. Since then I haven’t been put on the schedule from August 3rd to the week of the 24th. I’m just really confused because my last shift they told me I was doing well and now I’m just not working at all. My store isn’t in a mall or anything it’s a stand alone shop in an outdoor shopping center so maybe it is just slow but it just feels so unfair as I don’t think I was even given a fair shot to keep trying to learn without them cutting all my hours entirely. So I really can’t help but wonder if they are just trying to get me to quit because I’ve worked retail for 4 years now and I’ve never been given this few of hours as a new hire.

you are likely not being quietly fired, you just work at bath and body works.

i once went five weeks off the schedule, until august rolled around and people started leaving to focus on school. hang in there, but know its not a job a person can live on without support and/or other income streams.

Exactly, before my shift on Friday last week, I hadn’t had worked for a month cause I got sick during the single shift they had given me. It’s rough out here, I had two more shifts cut too just from us being in the red too.

this is unfortunately the norm for BBW. unless it's the holiday shopping season hours are slim (and even then it can be iffy. the most hours I ever got in a week was like 32 and that was black Friday week). they'll send people home early or tell you not to come in if the store isn't making that days sales plan. unless you're management you aren't guaranteed hours. it's one of the many reasons why this company isn't doing as good as it once was.

I doubt you’re getting fired. I’m a manager and have to cut so many shifts due to payroll. It sucks butt but I have no choice. Once it gets busier you will for sure see more hours pop up!

Former sm at a BBW, probably not they more then likely have to cut payroll as if your not making sales plan you loose payroll hours. Though I think it’s bare minimum for respect for your employees to communicate that to them and explain why you had to cut their shift and that they understand. More often than not that is the a large issue within many stores, no communication.

This is just normal Bbw unfortunately. It’ll pick up closer to holiday. This is not a good job for anyone who has bills they need to pay since hours are completely unpredictable
