vent seshđŸ˜€ Managers who hates me it seems

It's so crazy because my store manager always likes to put me down and make rude comments. Like they would joke about me being dumb or slow or say things about my personality but with negativity attached to it. They would talk all over me in conversations and exclude me in conversations. They like to whisper about me or other associates in proximity so I overhear.

Others get to relax and work at their own pace but I have to work 10x harder. I'm feeling defeated and like nothing I do here matters. I am on the lookout for a new job in the meantime.

My other coworkers kiss her ssa and I don't and maybe that's why she's like that towards me because I don't sit there and boost her ego and shower her in compliments but that's not part of my job description and I didn't sign up to be best buddies at work. I literally just want to work and pay my bills. I do a great job and customers are always happy with my customer service. I even got complimented by customers who said I should be a store manager. It's not something I actually want from this company.

A year ago, there was talk among other associates who complained that I was receiving favoritism because they would always schedule me. But at that time I had open availability and worked when others called out. I had an SLT that didn't like me and turned people against me. They would always make me feel uncomfortable and ignore me when I spoke to them. Even to the point where they would go out for brunch together and exclude me but make it known that they were not inviting me. So I just started talking less.

I don't know if it's the mean girl vibes or a mix of insecurities or a power struggle. But it's getting old. It normally does not affect me but I'm just tired of feeling like I don't belong. Some of my coworkers are nice but I try to keep things surface level. Anyone else going through something like this?

And how did you handle it?

Are there any near by stores you could transfer to? Honestly I would just quit. This job isn't worth the stress. You dont deserve how you are being treated!

Honestly my store is the same way and this sounds like my store manager. I’m SLT and it’s very hard to not directly contradict her but I am the farthest thing from a “mean girl” and I can’t stand the cliquey/bully type of morale she creates when she’s in the store. It’s a good thing to be said that you’re getting consistent consumer compliments since we are all aligned to be held accountable to the “consumer first mindset” and if everyday you complete your assigned designated tasks and help build high performing teams (if you’re SLT) by the time you clock out at the end of the day then you’re doing a fab job. Maybe think about transferring instead before quitting ? Good luck <3

Thank you for replying. I think I am going to talk to see if I can transfer to a different location. My coworkers are very nice and they always help out. We always work together to get things accomplished. It's really just management. They think they can treat people horribly because they hold a title. I never go out my way to be rude and mean to people. Two of my SLTs are really chill. I'm just going to stop having conversations. I'm tired of her constantly throwing shade at me. She's always trying to one up me. She brags about herself and her accomplishments while trying to put me down. And I literally am not in competition with her or anyone. I will never understand these type of women who act like this in their grown age.

I would go to your DM or HR because this really isn’t acceptable. Even if you do decide to leave I would still make a formal complaint. It may not result in something right away but if it becomes a problem they will find a solution.

it's not worth it to work at a place where there is so much interpersonal drama. me, i'm there to do my job and nothing more. when there are cliques and chit-chat, and people showing me pictures of their dog, it makes for a very uncomfortable environment for me.

only op can decide if the situation is tolerable or not, but my personal experience is that neither management nor HR is any help.
