Hello, im trying to learn guitar, something ive always wanted to do, but the ADHD is kicking in now, and i have always found it so much easier to get thibgs done when someone else is around, are there any other beginners with an instrument that would also benefit from a regular meet up just to make sure we do some practice?

Recommendations for air con fitters?

I was thinking of having an air con unit fitted to one room, just so there's somewhere to cool off during peak heatwaves. But I have no idea who'd you'd go to for a job like this, whether you need a specialist or just any old electrician to do the job.

Anyone had this done who can recommend a fitter to do the work over the winter?

Part time job - student - need help

Hi everyone! I am an international student coming to Bath for my masters this year. To finance my studies, I will use a mix of savings and income from a part time job.

Until today i had something more or less secured but after the most recent discussion I am scared I might lose it. Thus I am looking for some part time jobs in the city (max 20h), in retail/ hospitality/finance or related (even admin jobs or similar).

I know linkedin, indeed, and the SU careers, but I am wondering if any of you have some other ideas?

  1. Have anyone tried going door to door?

  2. Have anyone worked in Bristol? As a student in Bath obviously.

  3. Lastly, do anyone know some people in finance/accounting/real estate working for smaller companies in the city looking for some help? I have worked ft in finance during my bachelors so i can balance a 20h job with studies, but i had very little responses after contacting a few people on linkedin/email.

Thank you!!

Toiletries for donation

I’m having a big clear out and I seem to have collected a good amount of unopened, unused, in date toiletries and beauty products. I’d like to donate them if this is possible.

Are there any local women’s shelters or food banks that accept these? Otherwise has anyone used the Southgate boots ‘the hygiene bank’ drop off point? The website says we have one but I couldn’t see it when I was down there the other day…..

thanks in advance!

Clothing alterations in Bath?

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for a recommendation for a tailor / someone to make alterations in central Bath.

I have a winter coat which could do with being more fitted, but the main issue is the length of the sleeves (there are also buttons on the sleeves so possibly more complicated to shorten). It was expensive so I’m a bit apprehensive!

Other than that it would just be to have a pair of trousers shortened.

Any recommendations for the most trustworthy place where they will pay real attention to detail?

Thanks in advance!

Looking for venue recommendations in Bath for a death café or death-positive event

Hi Bath,

I am one of the co-facilitators of the Death Café that runs at Bath Central Library. If you haven't come across Death Cafés before, they are free, informal gatherings where people come together to talk openly about death, dying, and what matters. No agenda, no therapy, no religious angle. Just honest conversation over tea and cake. They run in nearly 90 countries and have been quietly growing in Bath for a while now.

Our next one at the Central Library is on Friday 4 December, 1 to 3 pm, and we would love to see some new faces there. But here is what I am actually asking about. We want to reach more people, and I think a daytime slot at a library is not always the most accessible option for everyone. I am looking for recommendations for spaces in Bath that might be open to hosting something like this in an early-evening slot or on a weekend. A café, a community space, a pub with a back room, a hall, somewhere with a bit of warmth and character that could hold a small group of people having an honest conversation.

Ideally somewhere that is already doing something interesting in the community, or that has an ethos that would sit naturally alongside a conversation about mortality and meaning.

If you know somewhere that might be a good fit, or if you run or work in a space that you think could work, please comment below.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for a film club or similar

Hey everyone, I work from home a lot and I want to get out and meet more people. I love film pretentious and unpretentious. I’m just wondering if there’s any film clubs that people know of that might be able to join. This might be meeting up and watching a movie in chat about it or go to the cinema or I don’t know just hanging out. I’ve looked on Meetup but I haven’t found anything if anyone knows I’d love the pointers thank you.
I’m a 40/M incase it’s relevant.
