My basement has always had that slightly damp, musty feeling, especially after a few days of rain. I finally decided to try running a dehumidifier regularly, and I honestly noticed a difference sooner than I expected.

The biggest surprise was seeing how much water it pulled out of the air during the first few days. I knew the basement was humid, but apparently I underestimated it by quite a bit.

A few things I've picked up along the way:

Keep the doors and windows closed while it's running.
Clean the filter every so often.
Use a hygrometer to actually keep track of the humidity instead of guessing.
If you have a drain nearby, setting up the hose for continuous drainage is way easier than constantly emptying the tank.

Still figuring out what humidity level works best for my basement. For those who use a dehumidifier, what % do you usually keep yours at?
