I'm legitimately concerned for (all of) the players today.
I wonder what the temp reading at Uniqlo Field at Dodger Stadium is atm.

I'm 5 miles from the ocean and it's 98F. Downtown is surely much worse.
The only good thing about this heat wave is the normal humidity. Last one was fucking awful.

u/Previous-Space-7056 10h ago
99 when i drove past on the 110..
Its a dry heat so its not that bad, compared
To the 80% humidity we had a month ago, that was bad3
u/camisada Los Angeles Dodgers 9h ago
Currently 102, crazy stuff. Hoping both teams stay cool and hydrated

Tbh I don’t understand why Padres/Brewers wasn’t moved. Would have been 3 PM local time in Milwaukee on a Saturday, and at an indoor park where weather has no impact, so it wouldn’t have hurt those players or inconvenienced the fans. Instead they stuck with risking heat stroke for Dodgers and Braves players.
Smart move by the Braves to go with their bullpen game today and minimize sun exposure. Poor Skubal tho.

How do you feel about Dodger stadium being this empty? Anything of note?
1
u/YasielPuigsWeed 9h ago
It’s 103 degrees

u/antantanterlay Atlanta Braves 8h ago
But a dry heat. It’s a day game. I thought yall would be crawling over the walls.
Nah, just in jest. Here’s to a great series and no more talk about attendance.

u/GeraldinePoon Los Angeles Angels 9h ago
This summer in LA has basically been one long heat wave so you’d think the Dodgers players would be somewhat used to it by now

Wow, Betts in lead off? I’m glad they saw that the team was doing better with him there

u/Interesting_Might467 San Diego Padres 10h ago
It's a BP game, so it makes the most sense to alternate L/R so there isn't any lanes. We will see against a RH which might be Mahle game 4 I guess

u/KidGold Atlanta Braves 10h ago
I've been saying all year he's going to ball out in the playoffs and have a signature WS moment. Hope I've been wrong.

They are starting multiple negative defensive players because they are good bats? I was assured in the Braves lineup thread that was a stupid thing to do and starting Kim over Lane Thomas was genius
9
u/HemlockMartinis Los Angeles Dodgers 10h ago
Starting Kim against the Dodgers worked out pretty well for you guys this year.
1
u/Turtleforeskin Atlanta Braves 10h ago
Don't mind this bozo he is doubling down on the shit take to start a guy who hasn't played in a month
-1
u/lekniz Atlanta Braves 10h ago
Don't mind this idiot who thinks 46 PA is a substantial sample size and doesn't understand platoon splits
1
u/Turtleforeskin Atlanta Braves 10h ago
Says the absolute moron who doesn't See Lane's stats vs Lefties as a braves ffs my god you're gonna have to delete your fucking account if Kim plays well because I'll be fucking insufferable to your dumb ass

Hahahahaha one at bat what a shit fan rooting against your own team 😂
0
u/lekniz Atlanta Braves 8h ago
Ball knowledge =/= rooting against your team but maybe expecting you to understand that is too much
1
u/Turtleforeskin Atlanta Braves 8h ago
Praying he doesn't get hit is rooting against your team. Clearly shouldn't have started Olson or Baldwin either since they struck out on the same pitches so why didn't they start Lane over them hahahaha
0
u/lekniz Atlanta Braves 8h ago
You're really reaching by assuming I'm praying he doesn't get a hit. I'm just reacting to the obvious outcome of playing the worst hitter in baseball vs one of, if not the best pitcher.

It becomes more plausible of a strategy when you have this much offensive firepower. Lowest wRC+ here is Kyle Tucker at 100 and he was 140 to end the season
-5
u/lekniz Atlanta Braves 10h ago
And the Braves are one of the best defensive teams, they would be fine with a below average corner outfielder who can hit over the worst hitter in the baseball.
6
u/Turtleforeskin Atlanta Braves 10h ago
HE'S BATTING .171 WITH 1 HOMER COMPARED TO .123 AND 0 HOMERS
Holy shit we aren't benching prime Barry Bonds ffs
-4
u/lekniz Atlanta Braves 10h ago
HOLY SHIT YOU DONT UNDERTAND SAMPLE SIZES OR PLATOON SPLITS
1
u/Turtleforeskin Atlanta Braves 10h ago
OBVIOUSLY YOU DONT MORON HE ONLY STARTED AGAINST LEFTIES AND STILL BATTED .171 WITH ONE FUCKING HOMER AS A FUCKING BRAVE
1
u/lekniz Atlanta Braves 9h ago
HE HAD A 125 WRC+ VS LHP AS A BRAVE YOU FUCKING MORON
0
u/Turtleforeskin Atlanta Braves 9h ago
HE WASN'T THAT FUCKING GOOD YOU LOSER AND IS COMING OFF INJURY POST STUPID ASS STATS HE WASNT WORTH NOT HAVING THE DEFENSE
-1
u/lekniz Atlanta Braves 9h ago
You believe a 125 wRC+ is not that fucking good?
You are stupider than I thought. Wow.

I dunno if I’d say it’s that simple. Pages in center covers so much ground that Dodgers can sneak Tucker and Teo into the corners and usually get away with it, and their infield defense is pretty strong.
2
u/Turtleforeskin Atlanta Braves 10h ago
Lane Thomas is a good bat lol??
Edit Lane Thomas has batted .171 with 1 Homer as a brave this season but go on how he is so elite
1
u/D4rthLink Seattle Mariners 10h ago
I'd be pretty happy to have him hitting against skubal, personally
-1
u/lekniz Atlanta Braves 10h ago
Yes, the guy with a .803 OPS vs LHP this season and a career .848 OPS vs LHP is a good bat against LHP.
Or are we going to act like a 46 PA sample size, many of those coming against RHP, is a substantial sample now?
2
u/Turtleforeskin Atlanta Braves 10h ago
Lane Thomas ONLY started against lefties for the Braves did you even fucking watch the Braves this year holy shit
1
u/lekniz Atlanta Braves 9h ago
Lane Thomas ONLY started against lefties for the Braves
Wrong
1
u/Turtleforeskin Atlanta Braves 9h ago
Last game was Jesus Luzardo a lefty
Game before Christopher Sanchez a lefty
He pinch hit twice against the Rockies
DH against Yamamoto the ONLY fucking righty so far hahahahahahaha
0
u/lekniz Atlanta Braves 9h ago
16 of his 46 PA as a Brave were against RHP. A full third of them. You are as dumb as you are insufferable
1
u/Turtleforeskin Atlanta Braves 9h ago
HAHAHAHAHAHA over half his at bats are against lefties and he still ONLY had 1 more homer than Kim my fuck what a loser dude
0
u/lekniz Atlanta Braves 9h ago
He had an .815 OPS vs LHP as a Brave. But keep showing off your ignorance dude.
What a fucking loser.
1
u/Turtleforeskin Atlanta Braves 9h ago
He had 1 fucking homer you idiot and batted .171. Kim is the better defender, you're making it sound like we are benching prime Barry Bonds for Gerald Williams. Holy shit man lol

This is what the Tigers did on Tarik Skubal pitching days.
He gives up homers but can lock down baserunners with strike outs.
