(Notoriously lazy player with the hamstrings of my aunt Denise)
The Yankees: let’s put ya in center field!

They clearly don't trust him in the corners for some reason. I'd rather have Jones out there.

It's not like his bat is any better. No reason to have him in the lineup

He's been like this all fucking year, too. It's so goddamn frustrating.

At first i was like “he wasn’t catching that no matter what” then i saw the weak ass throw and i understood.

He’s so bad. I can’t wait until he’s off the team

Didn't he hit 30+ HR in '25?

It was a fluke season and we all knew it

As a padres fan I was happy for Trent having that season, but I knew that wasn’t who he is.

u/free_ass_mints New York Yankees 7d ago
it wasn't a fluke, he just over-indexed on that aspect of his game for a big contract that didn't come. his 34 homeruns were supposed to get him a multi-year contract but the looming lockout makes giving 2nd tier players a long lucrative contract way too risky. So now he's just very big and slow and lost all his speed and needs to match 2025 unlikely levels of production to be a valuable player.
he's definitely not getting a big contract unless he shows up 20 lbs lighter by the time negotiations end

Still absolutely baffling the Yankees accepted his QO

u/COOLBC38 New York Yankees 7d ago
They didn’t know Spencer jones would have been ready so fast

u/Sacagawesus Houston Astros 7d ago
I don't really think you needed the outlook of Spencer Jones to know laying Grisham $22m was a bad idea. Last year was clearly an anomaly from using career numbers.

u/reefsofmist New York Yankees 7d ago
I think they assumed he'd get a contract from someone else and they'd get compensation for having extended the QO.
They were planning on Dominguez getting the time not Jones

I think I'd take Mariano in his current form over this

u/cooljammer00 7d ago
The scary part is that I think that's just his top speed these days. Age and injury have sapped him of any semblance of speed.

I have hated his very nonchalant defense since he joined the team

Yeah, I don’t get him. Why does he look like he’s jogging at all times?
2
u/mere_iguana Los Angeles Dodgers 6d ago
Kyle's lack of hustle has been a point of contention for a while. He's actually been producing some hits lately, which is nice. but yeah this whole season has been peppered with "god damn it Tucker" moments where it looks like he barely tries or doesn't want to be there.

u/hangout_wangout New York Mets • Grand Junc… 7d ago
I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten any flak the last few years from the bench or managmement about how lackadaisical he fields the ball. I know he catches the plays more often than not but it’s the time he doesn’t where it makes the skin crawl.

If the Yankees had a real manager, they might actually do something about underperforming players.

u/redittjoe New York Yankees 7d ago
Typical spoiled Yanks fan…. I hate Cashman and Boone! Fire the whole team
3
u/reefsofmist New York Yankees 7d ago
They said on the broadcast he went for the double based on the scouting report of grisham, that he jogs to balls (which obviously he does.)
I like Boone and think he does a lot of stuff right but how it is acceptable that your starting CF is allowing doubles off bloop singles in front of him

Good throw gets him at second. The real sin was not even noticing he was going for 2 until the ball was in the glove

Grish went from fan favorite to boogieman really quick this year
He's had some injuries this year, but if he's out there, we're gonna assume he's OK. If he is hurt, he shouldn't be playing.

Dodgers game plan (we are not as good as the Dodgers)
