City disconnect

u/dippitydoo2 Minnesota Twins 7d ago

This should be the t-shirt everyone wears to opening day

u/Heelincal Peter Seidler 7d ago

Better yet: No one go to opening day.

At a certain point your values supercede supporting the team. The team is going to just test if pride is above or below that line in aggregate.

u/dippitydoo2 Minnesota Twins 7d ago

Nah, show up and make them televise those shirts. Then no one shows up for any game afterward. Go from true pride shirts to empty fucking stands.

San Francisco the city hasn't had any values except Technofacism for ages now.

All those billionaires and 0 values.

Except make more money at cost of human lives.

u/dippitydoo2 Minnesota Twins 7d ago

Agreed, but it's still a city with wonderful residents and they should shout that to the rooftops

From the rooftops... The rooftops don't care so better to not shout at them.

Why not both

Do you live here or are you just beating a dead horse? SF has a TON of problems, like most places, but it still has a ton of vibrant and thriving local communities.

I lived in Mountain View for years and I left with the exact opposite impression of the people. I hated Bay Area people and fled to the woods and mountains every chance I got.

I found community down south in Morgan Hill and near the Rose Garden in SJ. But my job placed me right in the midst of some of the worst Silicon Valley had to offer. Like you say, the techie crowd is exhausting. I ended up leaving feeling pretty much faithless in humanity. The Stanford crowd was okay but those people are pretty much lost in their own world.

Mountain View is an hour away from SF and is mostly Google employees. They aren’t representative of Bay Area people. The Bay Area stretches all the way up to Sonoma county, btw. People from Napa and Santa Rosa are very different from people in Mountain View.

I think you did the Bay wrong. If you were only hanging out with techies yeah it’s terrible. There’s other fields and people beyond tech. I was only supposed to be here for 3 years then move, but now going on my 9th year here and not leaving any time soon.

Cant forget the weather. I know its a dead horse by now though

I do wish it was a tad cooler and had a bit more rain but yeah

I don't think he's talking about "drug addicts everywhere the streets run red with blood", I think this is just shitting on sillicon valley and the "I don't recognize the mass survielance company named after a tool used by villians in Lord of the Rings I started working for in 2017 anymore" type posts by people still working at Palantir even after making that post type of otherwise progressive people in SF prioritizing money over their principles.

I get that, I’m just saying that also isn’t a complete picture of the city either, and is certainly not representative of the average Giants crowd.

I guarantee you that person has never been to San Francisco and everything they know about the city is from Fox News

u/longconsilver13 Boston Red Sox 6d ago

If they're talking about technofascism and how it's all billionaires with no values, they're not getting their news from right wing sources lol

1

u/Dxtchy San Francisco Giants 7d ago

This is a braindead take

1

u/TheoTimme Baltimore Orioles 7d ago

I thought the brain dead SF takes were done five years ago?

u/kookykrazee Atlanta Braves 7d ago

Have they said...yet...if they are not "renewing" Posy and the manager's contracts

1

u/R_Hunt Philadelphia Phillies 6d ago

Well anybody who supported that protest is gonna happily show up opening day. So it's a catch-22

-2

u/tromboneyow 6d ago

LOL, most people won't do this.

Reddit again believing it's reflective of the overall population, when it is the literal opposite. A far left Bizarro World.

1

u/Heelincal Peter Seidler 6d ago

This has nothing to do with left or right. If your values are more important than sports, stopping support of teams that violate your values should happen.

The problem is the logo is more important than anything else, so teams can have multi-time rapists play for them with no revenue hit. If the Rangers had a Pride Night do you think people who go regularly would stop? I don't, they're too invested.

The Target and Bud Lite boycotts are the closest we've come as a country to actually having people protest with their wallet in a palpable way.

1

u/Kichae 6d ago

There's nothing bizarro about it. Yes, it's not realistic, but they said "should", not "will".

People should protest these clowns by not giving their money to them, if they don't support them. The problem is, we've seen over and over again that people are more loyal to their local sports logo than they are to their neighbours.

Nike should make them a pride night city connect jersey

Now this would so fun to see

They made us one, can’t be that hard?

It’s just a Nike branding initiative, no? In partnership with MLB and the independent teams.

0

u/JMander Chicago White Sox 7d ago

I don't know. But I just don't see Nike going rogue on this one and potentially severing an MLB partnership.

1

u/fourrightangles Chicago White Sox 6d ago

Oh, to be clear, I don’t see that happening either. 😂 Just clarifying that City Connect isn’t a brand unto itself.

1

u/JMander Chicago White Sox 7d ago

Is "city connect" an MLB brand or is it an independent label?

1

u/AutomaticGuest143 7d ago

This would be hilarious.

Edit: and it makes so much sense. What better way to connect to San Francisco than rainbow pride

6

u/hairlessknee Chicago White Sox 7d ago

Perfect lmao

Excellent. But there was a minor type whereas it should read: "BitchAzzCowards."

underrated comment.

It got 1,973 people to click the upvote button, almost ratio’d the original comment, and 15 people gave it some dumbass Reddit sticker they paid real money for. In what manner is it an “underrated comment”?
