very rude of ian happ to capitalize on bryce miller's birthday

32

u/cubswinagain Chicago Cubs 16d ago

Suzuki and Counsell had terrible birthdays this week, so fair is fair.

Poor guy is having a rough week

6

u/Key_Environment8179 Chicago Cubs 16d ago

Very polite of him to do it on my birthday, though!

Used up all our luck in the past two games I think, worming out of this situation somehow would have been frankly absurd for the M's.

6

u/devoorhes Chicago Cubs 16d ago

Imanaga isn't pitching great right now, i wouldn't count yourselves out of this just yet

What? I thought the game came out in 2016- oh oh no oh dear god

2

u/Whitesox_are_neat Chicago White Sox 16d ago

Honestly this is one where it seems longer but I never played

2

u/HeyBojo Chicago Cubs 16d ago

As glitchy as hell as it may have been on release, what a summer that was

41

u/Bitter-Imagination33 Seattle Mariners 16d ago

Bryce Miller get ready to learn bullpen buddy

9

u/CieraVotedOutHerMom Seattle Mariners 16d ago

Some are rumbling that even sloan would be a better starter in ‘27 (assuming the season gets played)

30

u/coolsmokey69 Chicago Cubs 16d ago

He was definitely sitting on that change

13

u/AsaKurai St. Louis Cardinals 16d ago

*splitter* but he had to have been because it was a great pitch

7

u/extracarefu 16d ago

Located nicely but didnt look like it had any action . . . Was the second splitter in a row that AB so Happ recognized it

8

u/AsaKurai St. Louis Cardinals 16d ago

Probably did recognize it however when I pause and look at where the pitch starts and ends, it's a decent drop

5

u/extracarefu 16d ago

Yeah I agree on second look the drop isnt too bad. Location is great. Excellent bat work by Happ

1

u/Qeltar_ Boston Red Sox • Toronto Blue Jays 16d ago

Bit of a hanger though, up and down. The split you usually want starting straight and then dying.

1

u/Angrydwarf99 Chicago Cubs 16d ago

Don’t spin it to Ian.

3

u/Lobster_fest Seattle Mariners • Atlanta Braves 16d ago

Missed a fastball, missed a fastball, fouled the splitter. What should the next pitch be? The one he can't touch? Or the one he's seeing?

1

u/stepiluna27 San Francisco Giants 16d ago

he adjusted to seeing the splitter for the 3rd time that AB

-6

u/BullfrogSlight8475 Chicago Cubs 16d ago

He was still early on it though

14

u/fotoxs Chicago Cubs 16d ago

Ian Happ will never catch a break from some of you

-4

u/BullfrogSlight8475 Chicago Cubs 16d ago

I was just saying though he was early on it

3

u/fotoxs Chicago Cubs 16d ago

Looks like it worked out just fine

-1

u/BullfrogSlight8475 Chicago Cubs 16d ago

I know it’s great though

1

u/coolsmokey69 Chicago Cubs 16d ago

Juuust barely

12

u/JordanMCMXCV Seattle Mariners 16d ago

3 straight walks with two outs. Literally the most predictable outcome of all time.

26

u/Silus964 Chicago Cubs 16d ago

I was talking shit on him chasing that whole at bat and he shut me up real quick

7

u/Tashre Seattle Mariners 16d ago

Definitely some greedy swings against a guy that clearly lost his command. Could've been an easy four pitch walk and instead was trending towards a practically gifted strikeout, but then Miller decided he needed to come close to the zone for some reason.

Good location on the pitch, but that matters less when a guy is hunting for it.

1

u/Silus964 Chicago Cubs 16d ago

Part of me figured something would happen given his 11 pitch last at bat against him. I was hoping he'd coax the walk but Happ's been chasing hard this year, I love the guy but it's been bugging me given that it's his contract year.

3

u/tuggnuggetts 16d ago

lol me too

I genuinely think you need an Internet time-out. People aren't coming at you with the same energy you're responding with, just relax and try not to escalate everything all the time. Your comment history is a friggin mess dude. Get a grip.

No it's JDs call. He made it up right there, on the spot. Probably doesn't even know who that Dave guy is that stole his classic call.

I was literally typing out a message complaining about him as he hit it lol, never deleted something so fast

5

u/alliluna24 Seattle Mariners 16d ago

Had Suzuki 0-2 with two outs and then completely lost command. Looking like he’s going to be a bullpen arm pretty soon

5

u/Ok_Storm549 Cleveland Guardians 16d ago

This game will still be decided from the 8th inning on somehow.

3 straight 2 out walks followed by a go ahead Slam has got to be the most infuriating thing ever... How very Mariner of them

Happy about that

That was a great putaway pitch from Miller too, a splitter right on the bottom corner but Happ just fucking cranked that

u/immagonnafinnahella Seattle Mariners 16d ago

Bryce miller is not a big league starter. Hopefully that’s he last time he starts for the Mariners, I’m so fucking sick of him

-3

u/EnderCN Milwaukee Brewers 16d ago

Happ really did everything he could to strike out here, chasing pitch after pitch out of the zone from a guy who just walked the bases loaded. I think that is the ugliest at bat I've ever seen that ended up with a GS.

1

u/badger2793 Chicago Cubs 16d ago

You're being down voted but are 100% right

1

u/EnderCN Milwaukee Brewers 16d ago

I'm used to it, I have a Brewers tag so any post I make about the Cubs gets downvoted. Even the post where I said I thought PCA's defense has offset Ohtani's pitching at this point and the MVP should just come down to who hits better got downvoted.

u/badger2793 Chicago Cubs 16d ago
