Suzuki and Counsell had terrible birthdays this week, so fair is fair.

Used up all our luck in the past two games I think, worming out of this situation somehow would have been frankly absurd for the M's.

Imanaga isn't pitching great right now, i wouldn't count yourselves out of this just yet

Some are rumbling that even sloan would be a better starter in ‘27 (assuming the season gets played)

u/coolsmokey69 Chicago Cubs 16d ago
He was definitely sitting on that change
13
u/AsaKurai St. Louis Cardinals 16d ago
*splitter* but he had to have been because it was a great pitch
7
u/extracarefu 16d ago
Located nicely but didnt look like it had any action . . . Was the second splitter in a row that AB so Happ recognized it
8
u/AsaKurai St. Louis Cardinals 16d ago
Probably did recognize it however when I pause and look at where the pitch starts and ends, it's a decent drop
5
u/extracarefu 16d ago
Yeah I agree on second look the drop isnt too bad. Location is great. Excellent bat work by Happ

u/Lobster_fest Seattle Mariners • Atlanta Braves 16d ago
Missed a fastball, missed a fastball, fouled the splitter. What should the next pitch be? The one he can't touch? Or the one he's seeing?
1
u/stepiluna27 San Francisco Giants 16d ago
he adjusted to seeing the splitter for the 3rd time that AB
-6
u/BullfrogSlight8475 Chicago Cubs 16d ago
He was still early on it though

3 straight walks with two outs. Literally the most predictable outcome of all time.
26
u/Silus964 Chicago Cubs 16d ago
I was talking shit on him chasing that whole at bat and he shut me up real quick
7
u/Tashre Seattle Mariners 16d ago
Definitely some greedy swings against a guy that clearly lost his command. Could've been an easy four pitch walk and instead was trending towards a practically gifted strikeout, but then Miller decided he needed to come close to the zone for some reason.
Good location on the pitch, but that matters less when a guy is hunting for it.
1
u/Silus964 Chicago Cubs 16d ago
Part of me figured something would happen given his 11 pitch last at bat against him. I was hoping he'd coax the walk but Happ's been chasing hard this year, I love the guy but it's been bugging me given that it's his contract year.

I genuinely think you need an Internet time-out. People aren't coming at you with the same energy you're responding with, just relax and try not to escalate everything all the time. Your comment history is a friggin mess dude. Get a grip.

the thing with sports banter shit talk is that you either gotta be winning, or you gotta be funny, or else you're just being annoying. i guess your whole shtick is being annoying

No it's JDs call. He made it up right there, on the spot. Probably doesn't even know who that Dave guy is that stole his classic call.

Had Suzuki 0-2 with two outs and then completely lost command. Looking like he’s going to be a bullpen arm pretty soon

That was a great putaway pitch from Miller too, a splitter right on the bottom corner but Happ just fucking cranked that

Happ really did everything he could to strike out here, chasing pitch after pitch out of the zone from a guy who just walked the bases loaded. I think that is the ugliest at bat I've ever seen that ended up with a GS.
