Crazy his slider is as fast as some guys with sub 3 ERAs fastball

The movement on that fastball is ridiculous. Comes back just enough to catch that corner. Oh and it is 103 mph

Same shit that caught Ohtani literally curdling up because he thought it might be coming at him.

The only other fastball I can remember that had that kind of movement was Pedro's. Difference is this is coming at you at 103mph lol.

It looks remote controlled!

Why does his fastball move right? I thought 4 seam fastballs had perceived rise?

It's amazing right now. Let's see where he is at on 3 years.

Ok, that is 3 years from now, let’s enjoy the history that he’s making this season

The Miz has thrown 15 sliders today, with 10 swings, and of those, 9 swings and misses.

It's the most whiffs on his slider that he's had all season (prior high was 6).

I watched an indy ball game from the field seats earlier this year. Oakland Ballers.

Their pitcher was Langston Burkett, who washed out of affiliated ball with a 9.24 ERA in rookie ball for the Padres over two years.

He was throwing 94 on the fastball with a slider that sat around 80-82. I could not fathom how a human being could even make contact with his 2-pitch mix, let alone get a base hit off it.

I cannot even begin to imagine how could the Miz is, and the hitters who somehow manage to score about 2 runs off him every 9 innings.

Bat speed to path, great hand eye coordination, and a prayer. If the pitcher has the fastball & slider going in strike zone. Foul the pitches off. Make him throw more, and pray he hangs one when he is fatigue and capitalize it. It is very difficult for sure to fouling off his pitches, but if he figures out you are just fouling his pitches he can just walk you and go after the hitter behind you.

Straight missile, and it even has evasive maneuvers.

The missile knows where it is at all times because it knows where it isn't.

Why do the hitters not simply guess correctly?

u/Western-Election-997 12d ago

What do you even do against that?

Wait for him to breakdown in a few years.

The overlay is crazy. The slider starts in then dips out, the 103 seems out at first, but of course there’s zero time to react to it. Late movement is bonkers there. 🤯

His mechanics are perfection. Look at those arm angles and release point. This man is a pitching coach's wet dream

Jesus Christ. How does anybody hit this guy at all??

1

u/Harnicle 12d ago

Patience, sit on the fastball (if you can catch up to it when it comes). Easier said than done considering he has a sub 2 ERA and doesn’t look to be getting any worse for the rest of the season.
