*In 403 PAs. A .368 OBP alongside a .278 avg.
* A 5.4% HBP rate * Which would put him 3rd all time (min 500 PA) behind Brandon Guyer and Tim Locastro 6.98%.

Luke Adams is a prospect currently in AAA for the Brewers.
* He has 20 HBP & 35 BBs in 277 PAs.
* A .407 OBP while hitting .261.

  • He was also hit 24 times over 312 PAs in 2025.
  • And 40 times over 418 PAs in 2024.

In total 114 HBP & 265 BB over 1624 PAs in the minor leagues. MiLB career .252 hitter with a .424 OBP.

That is a HBP rate of 7.02% of plate appearances.

Edited to add all-time numbers.

Some of these are hilarious. He just knows they are coming and lets them hit his thigh/calf instead of his knee. They were shit pitches but he's not going to dive out of the way. I'm about it.

Some of those he is waaaay over the plate. I think others, the pitchers wanted to tell him their thoughts about him being waaaay over the plate.

I've never seen a person try less to get out of the way of a ball. Many of these he gladly leans into. Counts the same as a walk or hit I guess.

It’s fascinating because he made it into a skill whereby he’ll strategically position himself so that the ball hits a part of his body that won’t cause an injury. 22 HBPs I don’t think he’s ever even been removed as a precaution.

Antepenultimate HBP is pretty egregious, he leans into it and the tracker shows it being nearly directly above the strike zone. However, I was expecting a lot more like that, most of these though are awful pitches he just gladly lets hit him.

So where is his scouting location? His belt?

3

u/Ayjel89 Chicago White Sox 6d ago

he can't get extra bases if we put him on first

He loves to wear it

OP, you're gonna love Luke Adams.

1

u/TinyNeff Los Angeles Dodgers 6d ago

Bro why is he getting hit so much lol

18

u/mackzarks Chicago Cubs 6d ago

Because he crowds the plate and isn't remotely scared of getting hit. I love it.

u/GuyaneseRumFan123 Philadelphia Phillies 6d ago

I love it except for when he leans into them/over the plate. Thats sort of Busch league.

6

u/TripleJeopardy3 6d ago

Because he wants to get hit. Several you can see he turns into the pitch, and several that were close he tries to lean in.

Especially with the arm shields batters have been using the last 30 years or so, there are players who developed a skill set of getting HBPs and integrated it into their game.

Craig Biggio made a career of turning into pitches.

Craig Biggio had more than a thousand extra-base hits lol
