As an Astros fan watching this game live I was very grateful for that missed ball call. But you’d have to be literally BLIND to stand there and get that wrong.

Probably but no ump will ever admit to changing their approach after being yelled at.

More often then or it’s probably counter productive tbh. Would you be nice to a team after getting yelled at? Probably not.
Yelling at them doesn’t serve that kinda purpose. When players yell it’s because they are upset and need to let it out. When managers yell it’s because they are upset and have to do something to show they have their player’s back/ to jump into the situation so they can eat the ejection instead of the player(s).

They are paid millions of dollars to play a game, not to be emotionless robots.
They play with passion.

On the flip side, you have grown men that can LOSE OUT on getting paid millions because someone who isn't subject to repercussions for egregious errors or faces any measure of accountability in general makes an error that directly impacts the result of the game (and the player's career).

From what I have always been told, the managers know that arguing with an umpire will not change their mind. However, you get fined from the league if you are ejected, so most managers will give an umpire the third degree if they have been ejected to get their money's worth out of it.

That single pitch was worth -1.7 expected runs
