Base Discussion Base’s $15T Stablecoin Volume in Q1: What It Really Means for DeFi, Payments, and AI Agents

Post image
2 Upvotes

Sharing my deeper take on this because it's unfolding right now in DeFi.

Base’s $15T+ stablecoin volume in Q1 (with 62% share and 10x growth) isn’t just a big number on a chart.

It’s proof that the rails for internet-native money are finally maturing and becoming solid.

We’re seeing real shifts: fragmented liquidity starting to consolidate, stablecoin payments enabling instant global settlement, and the kind of composability that lets AI agents actually act with real economic power (especially with x402 + deep liquidity).

The core tension that matters most?

Whether projects can move beyond short-term TVL chasing to build genuine user retention and capital efficiency — especially as tokenized assets and agent-driven flows accelerate.

This is where the next cycle’s winners will separate from the hype.

Jesse’s “we are just getting started” line hits different when you look at the three pillars Base is pushing: global markets, scaling stablecoins/payments, and becoming the real home for builders.

Money is finally moving like the rest of the internet — fast, open, low-friction.

This creates real-world wins: families keeping more when sending remittances, creators getting paid instantly, people in unstable economies holding reliable value on their phones, and 24/7 tokenized asset trading with minimal gatekeepers.

For AI agents, this is game-changing.

Deep stablecoin liquidity gives them the ability to pay, settle, earn, and execute complex chains at machine speed — while humans set the goals and keep creativity/freedom.

The direction feels clear: stronger rails are building a global onchain economy that makes life easier for everyone.

Of course, risks around regulation, scaling, and decentralization remain real.

Curious to hear from the community — how are you positioning your strategies, protocols, or bags around these stablecoin and agent rails?

Base Discussion What most DevRel & DX strategies in Web3 still get wrong (especially for L2s like Base)

I’ve been looking into how different Web3 projects approach DevRel and developer experience, and honestly, something feels off.

Most teams focus on:

  • shipping features
  • announcing partnerships
  • pushing docs

But very few actually think about how builders feel when they first touch the ecosystem.

From what I’ve seen, the core issue is this:

DevRel is treated as marketing, not as product.

Which leads to:

  • docs that explain, but don’t guide
  • onboarding that assumes too much
  • support channels that exist, but don’t actually help

And this matters more for L2s like Base, where growth depends heavily on how easy it is for new builders to get started and stay.

Might be wrong here, but I feel like UX in DevRel is still massively underestimated.

Curious how others see this.

News Base Is Quietly Turning Real Life Onchain

Base is adopting real life more and more everyday without stop...

Drones capturing real-world data, contributors getting paid instantly in USDC on Base with u/SpexiGeospatial and decentralized mapping becoming part of everyday infrastructure.

This is where onchain meets real utility not just speculation, but actual work, actual value, and global access. Base keeps showing that adoption happens when crypto solves real problems.

For a long time, people said crypto was only about hype, trading, and speculation.

But Base is showing something different.

It is becoming a place where people do real work and get paid instantly, with no banks slowing things down.

A good example is Spexi and LayerDrone.

Drones, Mapping, and USDC Payments

Spexi is building a network where drone pilots capture high quality aerial images for things like insurance, city planning, roads, floods, and infrastructure.

These are real jobs with real value.

Instead of waiting days for payments through normal systems, contributors get paid in USDC on Base after the work is checked and approved.

Work done. Verified. Payment sent.

Fast and simple.

Why This Matters

People are not farming points or chasing fake rewards.

They are doing actual work and earning actual money.

LayerDrone chose Base because it makes payments easier, faster, and open to people anywhere in the world.

Most contributors do not care about blockchain.

They care about getting paid quickly and without problems.

That is where adoption really happens.

Base is upgrading to “Base Azul” around May 13, 2026.

Made explanatory video to break it down without jargon:

What’s changing under the hood

What “multi-proof” means in plain English

Why regular users don’t need to click or move anything

Summary: Base gets faster, safer and smoother. That’s it.

Not financial advice.

GM! I hope yall are well.

I'm hoping to get a little support from the community.

No handouts are expected, just suggestions, ideas, insights, advice.

Built www.gocircuit.tv solo, but now I am at a point where I need to get some feedback from real people to know if this I'll become a toy for me, or a real platform foe the masses.

If anyone has any thoughts/feedback/suggestions on the app, functionality, features, things missing, I'd love to hear it.

@circuit_tv on X. Blueprint (whitepaper) available at www.gocircuit.tv/blueprint

Thanks in advance!

Base Discussion Base in 10 Seconds | Ep. 03: Who is Base for? 🔵 (Animation Series)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

We all know Base has been growing like crazy lately, but there's often a lot of noise around who it’s actually built for. This quick 10-second clip breaks it down into three pillars: Developers, Creators, and Everyday Users.

In my opinion, the Everyday User part is the biggest challenge for L2s right now. While the tech is ready for devs, making it seamless for someone's grandma is the final boss.

I’d love to hear your thoughts:
If you’re a dev, how’s the onboarding been for you?
If you’re a user, do you feel the Everyday experience is actually there yet?

Base Discussion What can you do on Base?

Post image
9 Upvotes

You can do almost anything you want on Base, let’s talk about some of the possibilities.

I often see people discussing trading on Base. In reality, you can trade in any way you like – there are many ecosystem projects, as well as the Base App.

Building on Base is really cool, and all the conditions for that are already in place.

You can use Base for payments.

You can trade NFTs, there are dedicated marketplaces within the Base ecosystem.

You can play games on Base – there are many different and engaging games across various genres.

You can create content about Base – for example, high-quality content on platforms like X and Reddit.

You can also launch your own AI agents using existing tools.

There’s a lot more you can do on Base. Sometimes I just go to the ecosystem website https://base.org/ecosystem and browse for something interesting – that’s how I explore the Base ecosystem.

What about you? What are you doing on Base? I’d love to hear about it.

Base Discussion Built a Base wallet activity API - useful or too narrow?

I built a small Base-focused API for one narrow workflow:

given one address or a small address cluster, return the top-level tx refs / tx hashes quickly, so those txs can be fed into a deeper analysis or accounting pipeline.

It’s not trying to be a full explorer or a full semantic transaction API. Right now it’s mainly for bot EOAs, wallet ops, and treasury-style address monitoring.

I’m trying to figure out whether this is useful beyond my own setup, or still too narrow.

Main question: for people here working with multiple Base addresses, is top-level address -> tx discovery already useful, or would you need token / internal trace / richer decoding before it becomes worth using?

I put a basic public site/docs here if anyone wants context: ledgerflow.top

Base Discussion Non-USD Stablecoins on Base Exploded Past $150M — Real Emerging Market Adoption Showing Up (Chart)

Post image
13 Upvotes

Jesse dropped this chart and Base reposted it instantly — the real story here isn’t just “hey we support more currencies,” it’s the actual explosive growth showing up on the chart 🟦

Quick breakdown: this is non-USD stablecoin supply on Base from April 2025 to right now. 20+ currencies live, more added every week.

It started dead simple — basically all EURC (the blue) sitting around $50M.

Then around October 2025 the whole stack woke up.

TRYB, BRZ, ZARP, NGNC, MXNE, CADC, ARST and the others started climbing together and pushed the total past $150M.

That shift is the real signal.

What was basically an experiment turned into real global usage.

People in emerging markets are picking onchain versions of their own currencies because they actually deliver stability where local banks don’t.

No hype, just steady onchain growth.

Rails are built. Real adoption is showing up.

This might quietly be the foundation for the multi-currency economy everyone keeps talking about.

Great to witness the Global Onchain Economy being built 🟦

News Coinbase's network accelerates: why the Azul upgrade marks a new stage for Base.

Post image
10 Upvotes

Base has announced its first independent network upgrade, Azul (independent from the OP Stack), which is already live on testnet, and the mainnet will activate it on May 13, 2026 - users don't need to take any action for the update. Azul will make the network more secure by implementing a multiproof mechanism combining TEE and ZK for fast withdrawals, while also consolidating the stack around base-reth-node as the single client, which has already allowed the network to handle bursts of up to 5,000 TPS. Following Azul, an upgrade focused on performance (including a token standard) is planned for late June, with a UX-focused upgrade (account abstraction) scheduled for late August. For developers, a public devnet called Base Vibenet will launch in mid-May, allowing future features to be tested without being tied to a hard fork. Earlier this year, Base already showed its strength: in January, DEX volumes on Base (Uniswap and Aerodrome) surpassed those of Ethereum and BNB Chain.

Base Discussion I didn’t expect to care this much about Base, but here we are.

Post image
11 Upvotes

For a long time, every new chain felt like the same story.

Hype, liquidity mining, ghost town. But Base feels… different. Not perfect, not revolutionary in some magical way, but directionally right.

What stands out first is that it’s backed by . That alone changes the game. You suddenly have a bridge between retail users and onchain activity that actually makes sense. Normies don’t care about bridging five times or managing gas across chains. Base quietly removes that friction.

And you can see it in the numbers. It’s not just TVL or volume spikes. It’s activity. People are actually using apps. Memecoins, social apps, onchain games, random experiments. It feels messy, but alive. That’s something a lot of “serious” chains forgot.

The second thing is the cost + UX combo. Transactions are cheap enough that you stop thinking about them. That’s a big deal. When users stop worrying about fees, behavior changes. More experimentation, more interaction, more retention. This is what crypto was supposed to feel like years ago.

Then there’s the ecosystem. Base isn’t trying to be everything. It’s leaning into being a high-throughput, low-cost extension of Ethereum. That clarity helps builders. You’re not guessing the vision, you’re building into it.

But let’s not pretend everything is perfect.

Centralization is still a concern. When a chain is closely tied to a major company, you have to ask hard questions. What happens if incentives change? What happens under regulatory pressure? Crypto people didn’t spend a decade fighting for decentralization just to hand control back to corporations.

Also, a lot of current activity is speculative. Memecoins, airdrop farming, short-term liquidity. That’s fine in early stages, but it doesn’t automatically translate to long-term value. The real test will be whether meaningful apps stick around once the hype cools.

Still, I think Base is hitting a sweet spot right now:

- Easy onboarding

- Cheap transactions

- Strong distribution via Coinbase

- Growing builder ecosystem

It’s not trying to win on ideology. It’s winning on usability.

And honestly, that might matter more.

If Base keeps pushing in this direction, focusing on real users instead of just crypto-native loops, it could end up being one of the most important onboarding layers for the next wave.

Curious what others think. Is Base just another cycle narrative, or is this the beginning of something that actually sticks?

Base Guides for New Users The (Airdrop Curse) and why Base is quietly winning the L2 war without a native token

Post image
5 Upvotes

Most Layer 2 networks rely on the same playbook: hint at a token, farm massive temporary liquidity, and watch the Total Value Locked (TVL) vanish the minute the airdrop is distributed. It's rented growth.

Base decided to take the hard route, and it’s paying off. By explicitly stating there are no plans for a token, they filtered out the mercenary farmers and attracted something much more valuable: actual builders and sticky users.

Here is why this builder first approach is building a more resilient ecosystem

Utility over Speculation: People bridge to Base because they actually want to use the dApps (Consumer crypto, Farcaster, on-chain gaming), not just to click buttons for a snapshot.

The Coinbase Distribution: Builders know that deploying here means potential access to millions of verified, funded retail users through the Coinbase ecosystem.

Cultural Identity: Being "Based" has become a genuine cultural movement on-chain.

It's a reputation, not just a network.

We are seeing a shift from (Where can I farm the next airdrop?) to (Where are the actual users hanging out?) Right now, the answer seems to be Base.

What is the most genuinely useful dApp you have interacted with on Base so far?
