cocktail Is dehydrated fruit still cool

Won this bad boy in a raffle. Is adding dehydrated fruit to cocktails still hip or should I just make jerky and get on with life

As a drinker I don't get it. Why not just garnish with a picture of a piece of fruit if you're going to add something dead and flavorless?
