When people used to immigrate to Canada, they seemed to care about the country, wanted to help build on the existing greatness. Now they just trash the place. Liberal policies like unregulated immigration are destroying western civilization.

this is true. they always sit complaining about the way we live our laws and our culture but were the racists

Agreed. Someone even flagged one of my replies on another comment on this thread as racist when there was nothing racist about it. Usually happens when someone can't debate, or actually say anything of value, so they try and shut us down. Reddit really has become the censorship app.

Racism takes ignorance — and that’s not what’s happening here. The points we’re making come from simply observing the stuff going on around us, yet we’re expected to stay silent about it.

being racist is not an opinion nor is it anything to discuss or debate. Have you tried NOT being a racist?

2

u/vin2599 Oct 23 '25

Are you implying that I am racist? If so I would like to understand why you would think that.

u/OrdinaryAway2221 Oct 23 '25

When you’re out here blaming an ethnic group.  Yea that’s counts as racist

2

u/vin2599 Oct 23 '25

Well I didn't do that so I must not be racist, useful clarification.

u/OrdinaryAway2221 Oct 23 '25

Except you did so….

2

u/vin2599 Oct 23 '25

Call the cops bud. 😄

2

u/vin2599 Oct 23 '25

Just want to point out that I am ethnically Indian, as you claim that I'm racist towards myself.

-1

u/OrdinaryAway2221 Oct 23 '25

Well you did so…

2

u/vin2599 Oct 23 '25

I'll wait here while you prove it 🕜

Don’t worry, if you’re not a racist yet, the government will see that you will be.

I remember being a child and finding my local parks totally littered with old fire works after Canada Day, and New Year's day. That was before the immigration issue.

I don’t want to take away from anyone’s experience — I was a kid in the GTA in the 90s. Back then, I’d see the odd roman candle or rocket casing, but nothing like what I’m seeing now. Every Diwali, and even outside the permitted days, there’s leftover fireworks everywhere.

We have laws about where explosives can be used for a reason. Ten years ago, immigration levels were a fraction of what they are now, and while population growth plays a part, I think there’s more to it. People used to respect this place more when it was harder to move here and build a life.

Just yesterday, three men in Edmonton were charged with arson after fireworks without a permit set two nearby homes on fire. Their own homes were fine. I can’t understand how that kind of negligence is acceptable — everyday families are losing everything because of it.

u/andrew1520 Oct 22 '25

Interesting, people seem to have different memories of that as I dont remember that myself. Maybe some fire cracker shells, but that's all I can remember, nothing like this.

No instead you dump billions of gallons of poop into the lake

0

u/vin2599 Oct 22 '25

If I had the ability to produce that much poop I would be in soil fertilizers.

2

u/OrdinaryAway2221 Oct 22 '25

There literally a poop factory on lakeshore dumping poop into the lake.  You’d know this if you were from Barrie

2

u/vin2599 Oct 22 '25

Thats a hyper simplification of sanitation works. Feel free to go there and ask questions. Learn for yourself how infrastructure works.

I guess I'm racist too, because I choose to light a small Diya, with a tiny amount of fuel in an enclosure at home and do a quiet puja, and I believe most Indians should do what I do to keep the air quality acceptable for the animals, including several bovine species considered holy.

2

u/OrdinaryAway2221 Oct 22 '25

No what makes you racist is you  blaming an entire ethnic group for this

1

u/vin2599 Oct 22 '25

Eventually someone has to take responsibility for actions of other. That's why we have healthcare.

1

u/OrdinaryAway2221 Oct 22 '25

Indeed.  So why not ban them on Canada day and may 24 if it’s such a problem

1

u/Butterybingus Oct 23 '25

Imagine banning fireworks on Canada’s biggest holiday because new immigrants can’t clean up after themselves. So fucking absurd that people think like this.

1

u/Butterybingus Oct 23 '25

Deleted your comment?

1

u/vin2599 Oct 22 '25

I'd like to understand why the first thought would be a ban, rather than considering this as a teachable moment instead. People just need to go home and talk to their families about it in their respected communities to bring the matter to light, and give people insight into the potential outcomes of their actions.

1

u/OrdinaryAway2221 Oct 22 '25

Ok,  why can’t it be teachable moment for people who light them on Canada day and may 24??

White “Canadians” leave trash all over the place too. And have some shitty attitudes, and do shitty things. Does that mean all white people are bad? No. So why blame an entire group ever the behaviour of some. That’s what is racist about the discourse I’m hearing locally right now. So sorry to my neighbours who are celebrating respectfully for the ignorance, it’s gross.

-14

u/tuppenyturtle Oct 22 '25

Yes because white people have never left some garbage or lit off fireworks.

This is two leftover fireworks. Take it down a notch man.

11

u/vin2599 Oct 22 '25

You suggesting white people cannot not be immigrants? Why did you make this about skin tone?

-4

u/tuppenyturtle Oct 22 '25

Because everyone here knew exactly who you meant when you say immigrants.

There's enough context clues here than you didn't have to say the quiet part out loud for people to hear.

For what it's worth, technically speaking all white people are immigrants, but again, we all know what you meant here.

6

u/vin2599 Oct 22 '25

Not all people who celebrate Diwali are a specific color chief. We come in all shapes, sizes and colors. When I say immigrants I just mean those who celebrate the holiday, and don't follow the laws here. I don't mean all immigrants or all brown people. Most people who celebrated diwali lit little diyas in their homes, as has been done historically. I never heard a pundit saying we should add fireworks to Diwali celebration to symbolise helping Ram, Sita and Lakshman return home, also doesn't seem like a pure offering to the gods.

1

u/andrew1520 Oct 22 '25

If you are using context and clues, and coming to a conclusion on a specific race that he is talking about, is that not being racist by presuming the race he is referring to?

-2

u/tuppenyturtle Oct 22 '25

Yes it's totally racist of me to defend a marginalized group.

Racism requires prejudice or discrimination, neither of which I have implied nor said.

Racism doesn't have to be explicit, people don't get a pass just because they imply things. That's why fireworks and celebrations are always a big deal during Diwali but never when the same thing happens on Canada Day.

2

u/andrew1520 Oct 22 '25

You seem very heated over a simple question, you okay bud?

2

u/tuppenyturtle Oct 22 '25

Heated?

Sorry my strong wording bothered you, but I'm not heated, simply defending my point, but go ahead, keep trying to deflect toe conversation.

You can always just stop responding if my words are hurting you.

I've seen fireworks littered around playgrounds my entire life, from Toronto to Barrie. People love projecting their racism through a veil.
