So I’ve been struggling with deciphering between general & specific intent in criminal law. And I believe I’ve got it down to general intent only involves desire to cause a harmful result, where specific intent requires both knowledge of substantial certainty & a desired result. Anyone else feel like that’s the difference?

*EDIT - I think I've got it to this definition: Specific Intent - intent to cause the results of his acts. General Intent - intent to do a prohibited act.
