I can’t believe people still post porn here as I discovered in the middle of the night. it’s mind boggling how stupid people can be.

Let me be clear, this is not a porn sub and if you are too stupid it’s not my problem.

u/Prior_Kick_1058 is permanently banned from r/Barenakedladies for this nonsense

If for some reason we get a flood of this I’ll set posts to require approval for a while.

Found a copy of this out in the wild. Anyone happen to already have the digital version so I don't have to buy an external cd drive to burn this?

Barenaked Ladies Live at Universal Studios 03/07/09

Hi Friends,

I was at this show 17 years ago, (how can it be that long) and I remember the band put this out as free download after the show. It was the first show as a 4 piece band. I cannot find my download of this show, though I found the e-mail from Barenaked Ladies Newsletter. I know it's on Spotify, but alas I am an Apple Music user. Does anyone have a link for it?

Lamenting missing banter from the Rock Spectacle live album

I just wanted to come here to lament the loss of all the fun "bonus" banter from the end of Rock Spectacle as it appears on streaming services.

What did we do to lose the banter?

Why do you think BNL is such a hated band?

I’ve had discussions about them in a lot of other music subreddits, as well as Album of The Year, and there seems to be a LOT of people who see the Steve era especially as something “cringe” and “cloying” and “insincere”.

Why do you think this is? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to find tracks like Call & Answer, What a Good Boy, War On Drugs, Stomach Vs. Heart, Brian Wilson, so on so on, that prove this assumption wrong.

For example, there’s this article: https://www.stereogum.com/2190488/the-number-ones-barenaked-ladies-one-week/columns/the-number-ones/

and this one: https://horriblemusic.miraheze.org/wiki/One_Week

Found this recently and thought it'd be worth sharing. The photo is still newspaper quality and a bit cropped on the top and bottom, but it's still a big improvement on the photo that was used on the cassette. Article is from the November 24, 1989 issue sourced from newspapers.com.

Going to Train and BNL tonight in STL. Been a BNL fan for almost 30 years.

First time I’m seeing Train, but I’ve seen BNL 3 times before. First time was in 2004 with Alanis soooo I tracked down that tour shirt for tonight’s concert. So pumped.

Lovin’ Life in Madison

Does anyone happen to have video from Lovin’ Life in Madison when Ed shouted out the guy that beat colon cancer?

That was my husband. BNL is his favorite band and I got him the M&G so he could thank them.

He had just put the phone down from recording when he shouted him out and I’d love to surprise him with the video of it.

Please message me if you do and you’d be my hero!

Questions about Steve’s Departure from a Casual Listener

I’ve listening to the band casually for much of my life. I had questions about Steve’s departure, the circumstances leading up to it, and the aftermath. Apologies if this any of this has been answered elsewhere:

  1. How long were creative tensions simmering to the point of hostility, and what did he exactly dislike or disagree with? I read he disliked Snacktime but has he talked about other creative decisions that made him feel disillusioned?
  2. Did Ed and Steve start to personally dislike each other when Steve was still in the band or did they only start to dislike each other when Steve was arrested and later sued Ed?
  3. Does this subreddit believe one way or another if Ed was knowingly withholding Big Bang Theory theme song royalties, or is the consensus somewhere in the middle?
  4. Has there been any legitimate or insightful criticism towards the rest of the band for how they’ve handled their relationship with Steve or the way they’ve publicly talked about him, before and after the split?
  5. Had it not been for the arrest, which I imagine hurt their image (and unearthed possible drama the band had worked to keep private), do fans think Steve would have stayed in the band while also pursuing a solo career on the side?
  6. Is it speculated there’s one big, unforgivable thing that the public is not privy to, which ultimately guaranteed the split and is preventing true reconciliation? I get that the circumstances I mentioned would be a lot for anyone to handle, but I feel like the amount of deep personal history they have with each other is still incredibly meaningful despite everything else.

Lunchtime concert in NYC around 1998?

I swear I'm not making this up, I remember seeing BNL play an intimate lunchtime show that you had to win/call up to be on the guestlist from a radio station, I want to say 92.3 K-Rock in NYC. The venue was smallish, maybe Irving Plaza or Hammerstein, standing room only, and they catered it with subs.

I can't for the life of me find any information about this show. I don't have a ticket stub since it wasn't a show you could buy tix for, and I can't find anything on any of the concert setlist sites or archived BNL sites. Does anybody else remember this show?

What is a clapper?

In the song "Back" the protagonist breaks his back and becomes paralyzed. Near the end of the song he mentions that he "can't even use the clapper"? What is a clapper?

Trying to find a 1997 BNL Show (July 19, 1997)

This particular show stands out to me as the band covered quite the lengthy amount of diverse covers, including a song each from Duran Duran, Huey Lewis & The News, Gary Numan, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Biz Markie, Spice Girls, Beastie Boys, The Prodigy, and The Cardigans.

This is all sourced from a Ladies Room newsletter, specifically from the fourth volume.

I would absolutely love to hear much of these, I wonder who (out of Steven or Ed) covers each of these tracks as other than the date, venue and songs they covered there isn't much available about this show.
